Pandemic Train

Pandemic Train is one of the most interesting survival games that I have heard of. There are a million post-apocalyptic world survival games out there, but to my knowledge, this is the first one to be set on a train! This is the kind of game where bad stuff is always going to happen and most of the time you have to choose between the lesser of two evils. Someone is going to die, but whose death will affect the mission and the group the least? Tough decisions like that are what await you here.

Just Keep Rolling

The setting for Pandemic Train is an alternate timeline where a plague has ravaged mankind and extinction is a real possibility. You are in charge of this train that is supposed to always keep on moving and onboard your main goal is to create a vaccine for this plague and try to save mankind.

We Will All Die!

Pretty much everyone in this game can get infected and once they do it is a 24 hour death sentence! You have to manage people very, very well in this game. You barely have enough resources and even savaging as you roll along the world brings you just the bare minimum. You may have to decide to use a resource to help a crew member survive or use it for the greater good, but doing so will cause them to die!

How Many Cars Is Enough?

You get to have many different train cars on the train in Pandemic Train. Each one will offer something different. You can have one that is dedicated to growing food, a morgue where you harvest the dead’s organs, a place to sleep, and a place to work on advances. The more train cars that you have the more you can work on and in theory be more ready for anything that happens. However, the more you have the more you have to keep an eye on, and with resources already being stretched you do have to avoid spreading yourself too thin.

Taking What They Want

As in any post-apocalyptic world, Pandemic Train has people that want what you have! You will come across groups of desperate bandits who are willing to do whatever it takes to make their life easier. The thing here is you can fight them off and waste valuable resources doing so and potentially lose people. Or, you could think about offering them a place on board, and perhaps they could work out to be pretty useful.

While as I write this Pandemic Train is not yet complete, I think the makings of a fantastic survival game are here. I like how bleak it is and how it is pretty much inevitable that many people are going to die.

Pros:

• I love the story that the game has
• Managing train cars is going to be fun
• I like how dark and moody the whole game is
• Difficult choices are really going to make you sweat!

Cons:

• I have a feeling that this may turn out to be a very punishing game
• No word on any kind of release date just yet
