Cargo Company is a brilliant transport simulation tycoon game that was released this year. If you're a fan of simulation games where you get to build things on a massive scale, then Cargo Company is absolutely for you and is packed full of things you’ll have a blast with. I’m sure you’re no doubt eager to know more, so let me jump straight into talking about some specific features of the game.
A range of vehicles
Cargo Company is also about transportation, and you get to take advantage of all sorts of vehicles to accomplish your tasks of getting things from point A to point B.
Trains, trucks, and busses are the main vehicles you’ll have access to, but once you progress in the game enough, you’ll even gain access to rockets that you’ll be able to use to transport both goods and passengers between planets. How cool is that? The moon and Mars are just waiting to be colonized and you'll be getting the first humans there with your rockets.
Before you can start transporting goods from place to place, you’ll need to build up some infrastructure. This means building roads, bridges, railway tracks, and all sorts of other things. The better the layout of your infrastructure, the more efficient you’ll be at transporting goods, so make sure you think carefully about where things are placed and such. Once you build your first transportation route and start making some money from it, you’ll be able to create more and eventually expand out to different regions, including other planets as mentioned!
The entirety of Cargo Company takes place in real-time, meaning you'll be able to see all of your trucks and trains move at regular speed around your cities and surrounding areas. Though this is cool, not everyone likes waiting around for ages, so the game developers, fortunately, added the option to speed up time and let you zoom through your days if you so choose. You can even pause the game if you need time to think and plan out some strategies!
Cargo Company plays like a slightly more serious version of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 where instead of building crazy rollercoaster tracks, you're building railway tracks for transporting goods. Just because you aren't building exciting rollercoasters doesn't mean this game isn't fun though!
There's so much on offer here that I'm sure you'll love, especially if you like complex large-scale systems that extend across entire towns, cities, and even solar systems. Be sure to download Cargo Company and give it a go if this seems like your kind of thing.
- Range of different vehicles to take advantage of when transporting things

- Real-time gameplay with the ability to pause or speed things up
- There’s no system for upgrading buildings, so you’ll have to demolish buildings and replace them with better ones instead, which costs money
- The graphics are quite basic and could be better
