3 years after releasing The Last of Us, Naughty Dog revealed the sequel in December of 2016. Now after 7 years since the first game, The Last of Us Part II is finally ready. Slated for release on the 29th of May 2020, the game is yet to reach the hands of a majority of players. Today, we will give you an overview of the game so far, and help you decide if TLoU 2 is worth your $60.
Ignore the leaks
If you haven’t been keeping up, some leaks of the story were made available to the playerbase. After they were released, a majority of players are quite unhappy with the sequel to the beloved franchise. Without giving spoilers, we believe that you shouldn’t put much thought or consideration into leaks as video games are equally an experience as much as they tell a story. Without playing through the experience, most things just won’t make enough sense, so keep that in mind.
Enormous storage size
Beyond that though, something players should worry about is the storage size. The Last of Us Part II will reportedly have a 100GB+ install size, so you have to be ready for some sacrifices. This is one of the final titles in the long history of the PS4, so players should expect this adventure to be worth the storage and expenses.
Set five years after the events of The Last of Us (2013), players will finally step into the shoes of Ellie, the secondary protagonist of part one. The sequel follows Ellie’s conflict with a mysterious Christian cult in a post-apocalyptic United States. You can expect this game to contain the survival horror elements. These elements are further amplified by the third-person perspective players will experience the game from.
Players can use their firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth to defend themselves against hostile humans and the cannibalistic creatures you’ll encounter like the annoying clickers from the first game. Part 2 doesn’t hold back with the realistic violence, the recent gameplay footage released shows Ellie murder a girl idling in her guard position while playing a PS Vita.
Part 2 has expanded upon its predecessor by allowing players to do a lot more. In this sequel, you can traverse the environment further by accessing higher vantage points, jumping, climbing and travelling with a nimble and agile characters like Ellie. Players can crawl in a prone position to evade their enemies. Throughout the course of the game, players will have the assistance of a non-player character. A large portion of the game is set in Seattle, Washington.
In TLoU 2, the listen mode makes a return. This mode allows players to locate enemies with a heightened sense of hearing and spatial awareness. By indicating outlines that are visible through walls and objects, players can traverse missions carefully.
Additionally, you can expect the crafting and skill tree system to be better than ever. The three branches of the skill tree are survival, crafting and stealth. Experimenting, watching guides and reading articles will be extremely helpful in getting your preferred playstyle.
