Timemelters is another game that will join the immense list of games that have been funded thanks to the platform.

Developed by Autoexec Games, this game promises an interesting strategy combining cooperative adventure, magic, and time travel. It was pretty popular as an early access title on Steam, but thanks to the campaign on Kickstarter the developers can expand the game to new frontiers. But does it deliver? What's the game all about? Well, let's talk about it!

About the game

Timemelters is a completely original real-time action/strategy hybrid that offers both single-player and co-op gameplay throughout its 20-mission campaign. The player steps into the shoes of a witch, Teagan, who tries to stop a mysterious undead uprising from taking over her village in the dark and corrupt land of Hogendale, loosely inspired by events in Scotland in the 16th century.

Playing from a third-person behind-the-shoulder perspective, you have an array of magical powers ranging from rewinding time to playing alongside your past self, resurrecting the dead, recruiting trees to smite enemies, erecting walls, blasting bad guys with energy bolts, and setting up portals to teleport you around the map.

Timemelters houses a huge collection of strategic powers that combine third-person character action games with RTS gameplay and tower defense, as you traverse the map setting up defenses with a mix of AI companions, mind-controlled enemies, and echoes of your past self. You'll have to use your full arsenal of magical powers if you want to protect Hogendale.

A strange adventure

This game was created by the co-designer of Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves, and just like that game it features a rather odd adventure in a world where fantasy reigns. The magic is incredible, it can go from feeling like when you used The Force in games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, to straight-up shooting electricity and fire like in the BioShock franchise, or even resurrecting the dead!

The setting of the game is something unique, it does make the adventure more magical, and you can play the entire campaign in cooperative mode.

This entire game sounds like something that should be amazing, and in concept it is. But when it comes to the actual gameplay of the game it does have its ups and downs.
