As someone who loved the movie and the original game, World War Z: Aftermath is a game that I am super excited exists. The movie was such a crazy and awesome experience and I loved playing the game with my buddies. This new game in the franchise is taking what made the original so good and expanding on it, that is what all good sequels should try and do. Once again, it is time to call my friends up as we lay waste to thousands of zombies as we try and take back the world!
One City At A Time
World War Z: Aftermath does feature a bunch of new story missions for you to go on. Ultimately, surviving and getting from point a to point b is going to be what the majority of the story is about. However, the game will be sending you all over the world to places like Vatical city and Russia as you try to turn the tide. There are new and recurring characters so if you played the last game, you are sure to get a kick out of that.
New Ways To Fight!
The core gameplay of the original was great, but World War Z: Aftermath is adding some cool new stuff to the mix. There is a new melee system in the game which is awesome and the fact you can dual wield means that you could have a knife in one hand and a badass sickle in the other. There will be new perks that you can equip which can help you in your quest and there are brand new moves that you can use to kill all the Zekes too!
Once again you have different classes that you can play as. There is a brand-new class added to the game called, Vanguard which joins, Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, Exterminator, and Dronemaster. Each class has their own perks and you can select your weapon loadout so that you have a character that is suited to the way you like to play.
Getting Up Close And Personal
You can now experience all the zombie killing action in World War Z: Aftermath in first-person. To be honest with you I spent so much time with the last game, I will probably stick to the third person point of view, but it is cool for those of you that want it. I am sure I will try it and it is cool that they added it.
Coming Soon To A Theatre Near You!
While this feature is probably not going to be available as you read this, Horde Mode XL sounds amazing! This is a new survival mode that features more zombies on screen than ever before. It is going to be crazy and a ton of fun with your buddies by your side just trying to make it to the next wave. This is going to be a free update that will be made available shortly after launch so be sure to keep an eye out for it.
If you liked the last game then I have no doubt you are going to just eat up all that World War Z: Aftermath has to offer. It is expanding on what the first game did very well and it is very exciting. This is the kind of game that has to be played with other people, which as this is cross-play should be easier than ever to do!
Pros:
- I like how they have added a new class
- The different story missions sound like a lot of fun
- There is a brand-new class to play as
- The Horde Mode XL sounds incredible
Cons:
- Not sure if the first-person mode will work
- The game loses a great deal of its appeal when you are playing with the AI
