I really thought that Betrayed was going to be the perfect lewd visual novel sandbox style game for me. With a “devilish” story that has you making a pact with the devil and some amazing XXX renders and sex scenes. I really did think that this was going to be a game that clicked with me perfectly. While the execution of this game leaves a lot to be desired, those amazing XXX scenes might be enough to keep you invested so you can see what the next XXX scene brings.
Ever Dance With The Devil In The Pale Moonlight?
When I read the premise for Betrayed, I knew this was a game that I had to play. Basically, the MC dies, but he makes a pact with the devil in order to get another chance at life. You have to possess other characters in order to make them do things and this is going to make you stronger!
As a premise, I freaking love this! However, the execution leaves a lot to be desired as the story feels very “robotic” in the way that it is delivered and it never really picks up any steam. I have to be honest; I found the story really hard to get through which kind of sucked.
Great Looking Girls, That Know How To Move!
The real appeal of Betrayed is the fantastic character renders. There are so many great looking chicks in this game and that is ultimately going to be what keeps you invested and wanting to keep on playing to see what the next one has in store for you. While the character models are great, the game also features some great animation. Many of the sex scenes feel like they are actually animated and not just showing you the same little loop of “action” over and over again.
Give Me Something To Do, Please!
Like the story, the gameplay of Betrayed sounds like it should be great. The game is mainly a visual novel, but there are some other gameplay elements here too. The problem is none of it is exactly exciting. The choices you get to make, for example, feel like they are few and far between, and in all honesty, they very rarely feel like they have any kind of real impact on the story.
The game also claims to have puzzle elements and it does, but knowing what you have to do in order to progress is very tough and can be really frustrating. I have to say that if it was not for the great graphics I probably would have quit after about 30 minutes.
Man, Betrayed is a game that feels like it should have been a slam dunk. The whole coming back to life and making a deal with the devil thing is something that I found very appealing. Also, the renders and the graphics in general, are fantastic and some of the best you will see. The gameplay and the story though feel like they are kind of an afterthought as the visuals were the main thing the developer was interested in. This is not a horrible game, but I feel like it could have been so much more if the story and the actual gameplay were done a bit better.
Pros:
- I liked the idea of the story
- The whole “supernatural” aspect of the game is pretty interesting
- This game has some amazing character models
- The sex scenes have some very well done animation
Cons:
- The story feels very robotic and unexciting
- The gameplay is more frustrating and boring than fun
