Crysis 3 Remastered

With how stacked the tail end of 2022 is with games, it is crazy to think that Crysis 3 Remastered is one of the games that had me the most excited. I have already played this game to absolute death and I would put it in my top ten list of first-person shooters of all time. The whole series is fantastic and the third and final game has always been my favorite. They could probably re-release this on every generation and they would end up getting my money.

Two Threats Are Better Than One

I have always been a big fan of the alien invasion style sci-fi story that this series tells. Crysis 3 Remastered is the end of the saga so I do feel that you need to have played the first two games before you jump in here. Anyway, there is an alien race called the Ceph that has unleashed hell on Earth and these have been the main antagonists over the last two games. This time, we have another threat, a shadowy human led organization called CELL and these are a fascist regime that you are trying to put an end to. Some people like to say that the series is similar to Halo and I get that, but it is still fantastic!

Powering Through

Rather than reinvent the wheel for this game, Crysis 3 Remastered is building on what Crysis 2 did before it and that is a good thing as far as the gameplay goes. Once again, we play as the badass soldier, Prophet, who has this awesome exo-suit that lets us sneak around in stealth or go in all guns blazing. The suit is just so much fun to play around with and a huge highlight of this series. You also have a large selection of weapons that you can use. These range from your standard, army style weapons to more advanced alien weapons, and finding the right loadout for your playstyle is a huge part of the fun of this game.

The Concrete Jungle!

One of the things that I think has made Crysis 3 Remastered a game that I have kept coming back to over the years is the level design. This game has some of the best level design of any first-person shooter that I have played. The levels are nice and large and are designed so that you can tackle your objectives and deal with enemies in any way that you want. It makes replaying the game so much fun! This is the kind of game that I can fire up and just have a lot of fun with and the gameplay and level design never feels dated.

Nex Generation Of Crysis

Didn’t we already get a Crysis 3 Remastered is something you may be asking yourself and it is true that we did get a collection and it was fantastic. However, this latest release has seen the visuals improved to take advantage of the current generation of hardware that we have. This is a series that was all about having amazing visual flair and here it at first looks similar, but things like smoothed out edges, better lighting effects, more realistic looking water, shadows, and so on show that this is still a tremendous looking game, well over ten years after it was initially released.

Pros:

• The story is truly epic
• The exo-suit is a lot of fun to use
• This version of the game brings the visuals to a whole new level
• I love the way this game plays in every regard

Cons:

• If for some crazy reason the Crysis series has never been your thing, this will not change your mind
• As far as I can tell, this latest release only has the single-player campaign
