We all know that the best part about motorsports isn't the driving. The fun lies not in seeing the cars take turns at just the right angle, or tuning vehicles so they're in top-notch shape before a critical championship. No – the fun of racing can be found in managing and assessing the economic responsibilities of a racing team. At least, that's what GT Manager taught me.
What I love about GT Manager is how it transforms you into a tactical genius (or at least makes you feel like one). The game is a visual treat, with realistic graphics and TV broadcast-style camera angles that immerse you in the race.
Still, if what you're looking for is a tense racing experience, GT Manager might not be the game for you. However, if you have already sunk hundreds of hours into F1 Manager or even Football Manager, you know just how satisfying this type of game can be. I'm not addicted, I swear.
Strategic Shenanigans
Perhaps the most impressive features of GT Manager relate to its in-depth racing strategy simulation. It doesn't involve stepping on the gas pedal but mastering the fine art of pit stops, fuel management, tire wear, and finally, how exactly you want your drivers to attack the track.
As I mentioned before, the best way to describe it would be as a racing version of Football Manager or F1 Manager, but with a twist for the nuances of GT racing. Watching your carefully crafted strategies unfold on the track is just as awesome as finding an extra fry at the bottom of your fast food bag. That or, you know, actually winning a race. Both are cool in my book.
Exotic Vistas
There was no need for a game like GT Manager to be as detailed as it is. Still, it's nice to see the developers go the extra mile to make the game look amazing. Sure, most of the time you'll be looking at the racing equivalent of an Excel spreadsheet, but that doesn't mean races should look terrible.
It won't pick up any prizes for photorealism, but it has a polished and professional visual style that creates a very satisfying simulation environment. It's like dressing up in a tuxedo to go for a burger: utterly unnecessary, but everyone at McDonald's will surely appreciate the gesture.
Career Mode and Online
The game’s career mode is a rollercoaster ride, starting in the GT4 category and ending in the prestigious Hypercar category. This progression system keeps you engaged, driving you to improve your team and facilities as you climb the ranks.
And if you’re looking for even more excitement, GT Manager offers online seasons where you can compete against players from around the globe. These connected features add layers of replayability that keep the game fresh and exciting. It’s like adding extra cheese to your pizza – just when you think it can’t get any better, it does. I promise these fast-food-related analogies were necessary for this review. I know way more about that than I do cars, to be honest.
GT Manager delivers a rich and immersive racing management experience. Its focus on strategic decision-making, combined with polished visuals and a robust career mode, makes it a standout in the genre.
