Upcoming RPG game Hellslave is creating waves in the gaming community. While there isn’t a confirmed date for its release, developer Ars Goetia and publishers PID Game and Gamersky recently revealed a trailer. Hellslave as far as we know, is a role-playing game with a darker, eerier aesthetic and a story to match it. As we wait for the final confirmation for Hellslave’s release, we might well talk about what we already know about it.
There Is No Place Like Hell
Hellslave tells the story of humanity with its back against the wall. Staring at their final days and on the brink of eradication. As demonic creatures overrun the planet, a brave soul is willing to do whatever it takes to try and save the Earth. Of course, we are talking about a pact with the Devil. In Hellslave, players are introduced to six different demons, and they pledge their souls to these evil forces in exchange for powers to turn the tides of battle. The first aspect of gameplay starts with this decision, choosing which entity will guide you and pull you through your journey.
From there, players will face a world that reflects the consequences of their choices. As you fend off demonic hordes with your powers, the stakes rise in this Dark Fantasy world. The game is similar in theme to Darkest Dungeon but with simple artwork and design. It takes inspiration from different art forms such as books, poems, and comics, and through gameplay, you can actually witness all those inspirations clearly. This translates into cool cutscenes, distinct battles, and a quirky design that is classic yet polished at the same time.
When In Hell…
Keep battling your way out of it. Hellslave is a turn-based RPG; consequently, it is a more spread out and paced experience. The game, however, tries to make up for it with the highly customizable skill tree. Here players can change their entire understanding of the game by focusing on their active and passive talents; challenges change constantly. From the glimpses presented through the trailer, there will be different areas and lands, each with a unique set of enemies.
Conclusion
Hellslave seems to implement a battle system that tasks players with scenarios that range from one-on-one to 3v1s. Developers have also stated that there are various devilish creatures and unique bosses in the world. The game really makes a statement by relying heavily on its art and direction to justify multiple playthroughs and keep players engaged with the content. There are at least six different playthroughs, one for each demon you choose at the beginning. And if there are new visuals or a slightly different story for each of them, the replays might be worth it.
For the gamers who have enjoyed Grim Dawn, Darkest Dungeon, Ruined King, or any turn-based game Hellslave is a game to keep track of. The art and story seem compelling, and an upcoming release date is expected soon.
