Juiced 2 Hot Import Nights
Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights was released a few years after the first game and was released on pretty much anything that was capable of playing a video game. The first game was a decent enough arcade-style racer and this one is offering the same kind of thing. While it might not be as great or as memorable as games such as Need for Speed Underground or Midnight Club. I still think that as far as games about underground street racing go, this one is not bad.
Racing To The Top
There is no story mode for you to worry about in Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights. Instead, you are doing what you would expect and that is trying to become the best street racer around. You start off with a selection of a small number of races, but you need to win these in order to progress. As you progress you can upgrade your car and get new ones to race. The main single-player mode may be rather basic, but it is still a fun arcade racer type experience.
Pimp My Ride!
The customization options available to you are pretty awesome in this game. I liked how easy it was to do this as some games over complicate it. You can change the outer appearance of your car which is cool and you can also change the interior. I am not just talking about the engine, but Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights lets you tinker with stuff like the steering wheel and seats as well which I thought was pretty cool.
If you are someone who likes to mess around with your cars in games you will enjoy these. On the flip side of that, you also have a large selection of really cool cars that you can use as well if that is more your thing. The presentation of the cars and the tracks is great, but the human avatar you are made to create and the other people in the game look freaking weird!
This Isn’t No Sim!
The gameplay here is pure arcade action! The cars have a kind of slippery feel to them and it does take a while to get used to, but drifting and taking turns at high speed is what this game is all about. I much prefer racing games of this style that those that try to be realistic. You have different types of races that you can do in circuit races, destination races, and drift races so there is a fair bit of variety in regards to that.
The gameplay is very easy to get to grips with and it may feel a tad shallow. However, I will say that this makes it the perfect game to throw on when you are looking for something mindless and fun to play for an hour or so. It also has some fun multiplayer modes and in the split-screen mode, it is going to get a lot of laughs with you and a buddy.
I get that Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights may not be regarded as one of the best street racing games ever made. However, I do feel that it is a tad underrated. It does what it does pretty well and while it may have a bit of a “low budget” feel to it all. For the most part, this is a game I can fire up and always have a lot of fun with.
- Plenty of cool looking cars to race with
- I liked the customization options
- Making changes to your car is easy
- Different types of races keep things interesting
- The game is all about having fun and not being realistic
- The sense of “speed” is not quite what it is with other games
- The humans in this game look awful!
