Knightly Passions

The world of fantasy has always been synonymous with gaming. Whether it be witches, trolls, sorcerers, knights of the realm, pixies, necromancers or vampires. There is always something within this genre which will lend itself to a video game format. Well, what if a game decided to overload the system with just about every variety of fantasy monster and fantasy trope in the book? Well, Knightly Passions aims to do just that, asking you to go on an adventure that will ease your cravings for fantasy and also let you indulge in your sexual fantasies to boot.

This game plays rather like other fantasy Eroge games out there such as Hot and Steamy Knights, Jessika’s Curse and Vis to name a few. As mentioned, this game aims to satisfy every desire of a fantasy loving eroge game fan. However, does this game over saturate this story with too many moving parts? Or is each addition a perfect fit? We find out in our review of Knightly Passions.

A Knight to Remember

Let’s begin with the story for this game. As we mentioned, the game tries to throw every fantasy trope your way in the hope that something resonates. However, the game manages to do this through a surprisingly cohesive story. In this title you will go in search of your lost sister, encountering a plethora of monsters you have to slay, befriending a number of excellently written characters on your adventure and of course, you will have to resist, or possibly succumb to the temptations of hot demon sex. It’s got a little bit of everything and makes for a very gripping story.

Then moving on to the art direction for this title. The game goes for a hand drawn style which looks excellent in action. The game looks like a gritty adult cartoon you might see on Adult Swim being played out before your very eyes. The animations, character models and environments are rendered wonderfully and as a whole, the game is visually up there with any other fantasy game of this nature.

Then lastly, we take a look at the gameplay on offer here. The combat is an interesting card based system which isn’t unlike Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories or Gwent. Then outside of battle, the game has a variety of quick time events, trading and inventory management opportunities and of course, a number of very hot and steamy scenes which will please more than a few. It’s a rich gameplay experience that allows this game to be more than just another visual novel and we really appreciate the effort made by the developer here.

The Verdict

Overall, Knightly Passions delivers on its promises with an excellently told fantasy story. Complete with a cast of excellent characters, a wide variety of enemies, a visual art style that is striking and gameplay that is much more rich than one might expect from your standard visual novel style game.
