When you think of video game settings, there are a few that have been used time and time again over the years. These include the likes of a futuristic metropolis, a deserted space station, or even real-world locations. Their appeal is something that never fades even with multiple uses within the medium of gaming. That same thing can be said about the medieval era and Jessika’s Curse uses this to it’s advantage, creating a RPG adventure where you fight, hone your skills with a blade and of course, get down and dirty when the chainmail comes off.
This game plays like other combat heavy eroge titles such as The Last Sovereign, Kinky Fight Club, Vis and Hot and Steamy Knights. This title aims to marry the raunchiness of eroge titles with the rich and complex nature of turn based RPGs. However, does the game manage to pair these concepts off? We find out in our review of Jessika’s Curse.
The Curse of Creativity
Firstly, let’s begin with the game’s story. We won’t beat around the bush here, it’s a pretty weak one. The story told here is a generic RPG style adventure which claims to have a series of twists, turns and shocking moments and we suppose it does. The only issue is that the story is so dull that when the plot twist happens, you’ll likely not be invested enough to really take in the full effect of the twist. The story serves as a vehicle to deliver the gameplay and it’s competently written, we just think that there could have been more unique aspects to help this game stand out.
Then moving on to the gameplay, which is by far the most memorable aspect of the game. The combat is a slick, turn based affair. The movesets, tactical options, attacks, animations, resource management aspects and progression systems are all handled very well. Culminating to provide a RPG experience that is well worth the price of admission.
Then lastly, let us touch on the art direction of this game. The game uses a hand drawn cartoon art style which toes the line between gritty realism and cartoon whimsy, leading to a fantastic visual array which lends itself perfectly to the fantasy RPG setting.
Overall, Jessika’s Curse is a game that may not tell a story that is worth hearing. However, thanks to the fantastic RPG gameplay, the complex combat system, the excellent resource management mechanics and the incredible visual art style. We still think that this game has more than enough to offer to fantasy RPG fans. If you value a well written and thought-provoking storyline, you may not find what you are looking for here.
However, if you simply want to fight monsters and level your characters to be the biggest badasses in town, then this can accommodate your needs.
- Outstanding hand drawn visuals
- Great combat system
- A competent but rather uninspired storyline

Usually in video games that involve any sort of combat mechanics, it’s the might of the protagonist or the strength of their weapons that see them quell the threat of an enemy horde. However, have you ever seen a video game lead character that could drive back the onslaught of the enemy army through simply controlling their primal urges. Well, in Jessika’s Curse, the aim of the game is to get through this RPG adventure without letting your lust get the better of you.
This game plays like other games of this nature such as Seeds of Chaos, Princess and Conquest, Warlock and Boobs, Lust Campus and Milfairy Tales. This game aims to offer a simple side scrolling adventure with a raunchy twist. However, is this a twist that fans will take to? We find out in our review of Jessika’s Curse.
The Curse of Curves
Let’s begin with the art style of this game. Jessika’s Curse is a title that really leans into the mythical, hand-drawn art style. The game delivers a wide variety of enchanted vistas, deep forests and other picturesque environments for the player to explore. Then as for the characters, this game goes for a more cartoony style than the more common anime approach and in our humble opinion, it works very well for this particular game. All in all, this is a superb visual experience.
In terms of the gameplay, we have to say that this game doesn’t deliver detailed and meticulous combat mechanics that RPGS are known for. You’ll have a miss of four unique attack skills and very little else. Its about mixing up your attack styles to deal with the scenarios before you but honestly, it all blends into one. Plus, the RNG of this game is set up to make sure that you fail at least once or twice no matter how tactically astute you are. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
You see, when you fail and your lust reaches critical levels, that means you’ll get to see the X-rated content this game has to offer. Granted, the unlockable scenes for progression are much more deep and rewarding but there is something quite captivating about a scene that happens naturally where you are taken by the enemy and pleasured. Sure its an excuse for unrefined gameplay but you have to admit, it’s not a bad one.
Overall, we would say that Jessika’s Curse is an okay game. It does some interesting things and it’s core concept of lust being at the centre of the core combat dynamic is admirable. However, the game doesn’t have a compelling narrative and it doesn’t have gripping gameplay that makes the player keen to progress.
Thankfully the game looks great and for some, that will be enough. However, we will say that there are many better games of this nature out there and perhaps you would be better off getting better acquainted with one of those.
- Beautiful hand-drawn art style
- Interesting lust mechanic
- The story is lacking
- The gameplay doesn’t compare to other eroge RPG’s
