A new year begins and there are so many new and exciting titles coming on the horizon for the gamers. That's why Drinkbox Studios developer is launching their new title, which is already available in the Xbox Game Pass, Nobody Saves the World. We've been hearing about this game for a little over a year now, and it's finally here. This game is very different from what we've seen in the most popular games developed by this studio. So what is Nobody Saves the World all about? Well, that's what we are all here for, so let's get started with this.
About the game
Drinkbox Studios defines Nobody Saves the World as an action RPG in which we'll have to go through all kinds of different dungeons to complete missions and puzzles that will come our way. We control Nobody, the main character that has a magic wand that allows him to transform into nearly anything. And by anything we mean about 15 different transformations that go from a zombie, to a wizard, to even a skull knight or a rat.
As we make progress in the game we’ll unlock different transformations and more missions. Each transformation has its own set of abilities and skills you’ll need to use and even upgrade, but we can get a lot of customization done as well. The dungeons are procedurally generated so you really never know what to expect each time you enter one. But keeping a tab of all the different transformations and levels seems a bit tedious, but don’t worry. If there’s one thing Drinkbox Studios made clear from the early statements is that they really hate grinding in RPG games, so you won’t see any of that in Nobody Saves the World.
And we can’t leave aside that this game also has a cooperative mode available for you to save the world with a friend. Two Nobodies saving the world and completing puzzles and dungeons together. But they’ve added extra depth to this game mode as they also included synergy mechanics into the cooperation, so even though you both have your own characters with their own transformations, there are special combinations that will grant you some extras.
Really unique
Drinkbox Studios has some great games already out there, the two Guacamelee! Games were an excellent addition to the platformer game world. And with Nobody Saves the World, they are trying to have the same effect on the RPG world, and chances are they’ll accomplish it. The art is as unique and colorful as it is in Guacamelee! Even though these are completely different styles.
Nobody Saves the World features a lot of unique things and some mechanics we've never seen before. The cooperation in an RPG with this kind of synergy combination is pretty original and cool.
Things are looking pretty good for this title at the moment however we do have to mention that this game lacks something that can be important on an RPG, and that's a nice plotline. The story is underwhelming at best, and even though the game is interesting, it can actually get repetitive.
Pros:
- Interesting mechanics
- Original cooperative mode
- Nice art and design
- No grinding
Cons:
- Can get repetitive
- Lacks story and depth
