Oozing With Style

What strikes immediately about Othercide is its foreboding art style. This dark world along with its nightmarish inhabitants and your trusty units, the Daughters, are all painted with a monotone black and white palette. Splashes of red spurt out of every blow as well as the game’s UI which adds to the atmospheric feel of every battle. Attack animations feel brutal and impactful as your Daughters deliver acrobatic strikes and make use of spectacular skills. Othercide may feel like a game entrenched in horror themes but it’s got style worthy of the flashiest of fantasy games.

Time is at Your Side

Othercide’s most intriguing feature is the Dynamic Timeline System. This bold new approach to tactical turn-based combat forces you to consider and plan your actions well in advance. At the same time, you also have to watch with bated breath as your opponent’s turn arrives and with it some possibly horrifying fate for your Daughters. Luckily, some of your own abilities will allow you to push your opponents’ turns back while others will enable you to move your own units forward in the timeline. It’s this deadly dance of moving forward and backwards in the timeline that adds an even more ominous layer to an already entrancing experience.

Deep Lore

In Othercide, you are bestowed with the ability to call upon the Daughters by a mysterious figure known as the Red Mother. These Daughters are the manifestation of humanity’s greatest warriors. Their sole purpose is to fight the Suffering, creatures borne from the despicable and hate-filled crimes humans have committed over the years.

The reasons behind their existence as well as the origins of the Daughters and the Mother are all unravelled through lore pieces and story beats that will surely have fans of deep lore enthralled.
