Paw Patrol On A Roll

Paw Patrol On A Roll is based on the very popular Nickelodeon TV show. This is the first actual “full” video game release based on the series as there had been various online and mobile games before this. Look, this is aimed at much younger gamers and to be fair, it does what it does very well. Little fans of Paw Patrol who are new to the world of gaming are sure to get a real kick out of this.

Saving The Day

There is no big story or adventure that you are going on here. Instead, Paw Patrol On A Roll kind of plays out like episodes of the TV show. The heroic pups need to complete various missions to save the day and make sure Adventure Bay is safe and that the people there are happy. I think they could have done more with the story, to be honest, but I am sure kids will like what is here.

Pups Like To Jump

It is quite impressive that they were able to make sure that the majority of the cast from the show has their time to shine in Paw Patrol On A Roll. Each character controls exactly the same as they run, jump and collect items. You are basically going from one area to the next. There are collectibles such as dog treats and much harder to find golden paws. To change things up, certain characters have their own gameplay sections where you get to fly, swim and ride on a snowboard.

Every Dog Has Their Day

While the basic controls for each member of the Paw Patrol are the same, each character has their own abilities. The game has some basic puzzle solving and this revolves around figuring out which one of the pups’ abilities to use. You might have to play as Chase and climb a wall, or play as Rubble so he can pick up rocks to make a bridge, and so on. You can also call in other members of the Paw Patrol to help if you do not have the right ability. There is no punishment for selecting the wrong ability so there is very little frustration in Paw Patrol On A Roll.

Listen To Ryder

Visually the game is decent enough. It is a 2D style of game, but the characters all look the way that they should. It is very basic and there is not exactly a lot of imagination used in the areas of Adventure Bay, but I am sure kids will like it. What kids are really going to like is all of the voice acting in the game.

Ryder is always on the coms, giving instructions, offering encouragement, and so on and this is sure to be something that kids like.

Pros:

• It is a great game for younger gamers
• You get to play as many different members of the Paw Patrol
• The game has the feel of the show
• It is fun how each pup has their own set of abilities

Cons:

• There is pretty much no challenge here at all
• I think they could have had more story and cut scenes
