The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles

It’s been a long time since we last heard of our favorite lawyer game series. Now we’re finally getting it back, in a game that didn’t see the light of day outside of Japan, and never even got officially translated. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the latest installment in the most popular game series based on a lawyer, the Ace Attorney series of course. But after such a long time, Does the series still have what it takes to keep itself relevant? Is it more of the same? Well, let’s talk about that

About the game

To start things off completely different, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles takes us to a completely new and different setting. This is a spin-off of the series, and we'll cover an ancestor of Phoenix Wright, who traveled all the way to Great Britain, and crossed paths with Sherlock Holmes himself, even though for legal issues it is Herlock Sholmes in the dub.

Even though there was a fandub of this game in the works, the game was actually originally released about 6 years ago. And now, the official localization team had to do really hard work to get the game translated correctly. Not just for the setting, but also the game has more intense references to Japanese history and culture than any of the other games in the series.

But now that it is officially translated, let’s see what the game has to offer. Especially now that it is getting released for the incredible Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Get ready for more Objections!

Even though it is in the past, there’s one thing that never changes no matter which ace attorney game you’re playing: Objection! And investigations. There are a lot of new mechanics in this game, some even taken from titles like Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, such as the jury system.

There needs to be a voting process where you need to convince a group of jurors of the innocence of your defendant. As usual, you have your assistant, but this time it is the incredible Herlock Sholmes at your side to aid you during the investigation and judicial process. Many other new mechanics are implemented in the game, but the core experience is still what we know and love from the series.

This game is soon to be finally released for a wider audience, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Even though the game has been around for quite a long time, it’s the first time we get to experience it as it was meant to be. And it’s even better than the original release, thanks to the HD.

The visuals of this game look incredibly good, and even though we've seen the other Ace Attorney games in HD before, this one has the best graphics of them all, at least as of now. The gameplay is more complex than the other games in the series, but it is still in many ways the same type of experience we're used to.
