2112TD: Tower Defense Survival

I hope you’re after some sweet tower defense action in 2112TD: Tower Defense Survival! Welcome, one and all, to 100 in the future. You guessed it, things aren’t looking great for humanity, as we attempt to colonize the stars, we are constantly being styled on by inter-dimensional flesh creatures that wish to annihilate us. It’s always one thing or another with space exploration, isn’t it? In any case, you have to become a tactical genius pronto, and save humanity while leading it to a brighter future as the masters of the galaxy. If that sounds like your kind of fun time, then keep reading as we get further into it.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this title is that of an action strategy game. You will be spending a significant amount of time thinking about your next move, as the tactics you need to demonstrate will have to be top tier. If you’re a micro-manager, this is the game you need, as you will have to use your limited resources to battle not just the extra-dimensional monsters, but also the harsh landscapes that you will encounter. Make expert use of things like airstrikes, charged attacks, fortifications and tactical drones to push back the enemy and keep yourself going.

This is, for all intents and purposes, a survival game, and that becomes apparent as the game continues. Deploy machine guns, flame throwers and more in tactical locations to give yourself the best chances of victory. You MUST NOT place things without a second thought, as the placement of your defenses are just as crucial as what you are placing down. This game shares some distinct similarities between itself and titles like They Are billions and Tower Tactics: Liberation.

Through skill trees and ability unlocks, you will be able to grow your defenses in a way that feels more specific to you. Defend your colony your way and be sure to reward your commanders who perform well.

Visuals

The visuals of the game are pretty brilliant. Its clear that the studio hasn’t bitten off more than they can chew by making everything hyper realistic, and rather they have moved to a more cartoony, low-resolution game that focuses on actual substance rather than flashy visuals. But that is not to say they are bad, as they most certainly are not. The game possesses a style that will remind older gamers of classic titles like Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. Its an ode to the oldies, and I am absolutely here for it, as it tickles my sense of nostalgia.

Everything from the designs of them monsters and buildings and the visual effects and user interface are brilliantly rendered. Following the action is easy and everything is well represented with a visually faithful sprite. In all honesty, I couldn’t be happier with the way this game was delivered. Its gone for a very specific vibe and it has been pulled off perfectly.

Music

The music in these games always plays a larger part than you think they do; and this game’s works perfectly. Always sitting in the background, amplifying the experience, the original sound track here offers a brilliant gaming experience.

Pros

Cons

• The learning curve is quite steep and can suck the fun out a little toward the start of playing. Fight through it and the game opens up a lot.
