Villagedom

Ready to be the best king you can be in Villagedom? Well, if you said yes, I’m sure you meant it. Expect to fail, however, as this game is not exactly easy, there will be raiders to slay and subjects to protect, and this stuff often comes at a price. You, unlike modern politicians, will at least try to do your best. In Villagedom, you are in control, and you must put your attention to detail to the test by utilizing it in this unique city-builder and resource management game. If being the king sounds like a lot of fun to you, then keep reading as we get into it.

Gameplay

The gameplay to this title is very familiar and I think you know why. If you are a fan of Terraria, you are going to see some distinct similarities here between it and Villagedom, but don’t get me wrong, its not too similar and nor do the similarities make it bad. Primarily the similarities are visual, but there are some regarding gameplay also.

This game has you managing resources, finding ways to increase the villages production, increase its effectiveness, and expand its operations so you can do the first two things even better. The concept of the game is simple and straightforward, but it offers a new depth by introducing other non-playable characters who you must protect in civilians, fight with in fellow warriors, or fight against in raiders or enemy armies.

There is a surprising depth to this gameplay that gets you invested faster than you would expect, and I have got to be honest and say that I was absolutely here for it every step of the way. It’s a bit like a 2D Medieval Dynasty. If you are looking for a fun and engaging city-builder, this is easily one of the best.

You need to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing and doing it to the best of their abilities. That means outfitting them appropriately and getting them on the jobs you need done.

Visuals

As I stated earlier, the visuals of this game are actually brilliant. With a side scroller look, it could be mistaken for an action-platformer like Super Mario Bros., and in a small way, I suppose it is.

The game has a brilliant visual profile with all the action taking place in the center of the screen. All the fighting, building and trading is all clear to see and easy to follow. The actual art style of Villagedom is stunning. Everything has been crafted with care, from the trees and buildings to the sprites and user interface. I truly enjoyed everything that this game has to offer, and I know you will to.

Music

The music of this title is brilliant. Its simple but effective, keeping you engaged and letting you know the appropriate tone of each scene you may find yourself in. The battle music is inspiring and fast paced, while the idle music is soothing to help you focus.
