Aokana - Four Rhythms Across the Blue is a journey of self discovery through sports, romance and the little moments in our day to day lives. The story features your main character’s attempts to coach his newest student as she attempts to join the Flying Circus. Which is way cooler than what you’re probably picturing.

Take Me Soaring Through The Skies

This game is a visual novel and there’s no gameplay to speak of as you would expect. You can make choices and otherwise simply sit back and enjoy the ride through this game’s magical world. Essentially the plot focuses on the coaching of one of the game’s main heroines where you, as the coach, try to teach her everything you can about the game’s signature sport before eventually delving into romantic moments together. This game is quite simply a masterpiece in everything it tries to do.

The story is touching, moving, funny, crazy and everything else you could possibly want. You’ll smile, you’ll cry and fly through the skies in your attempts at finding both medals and yourself. The art is also breathtaking and will leave you in awe at just how beautiful everything this game has to offer you is. The voice acting is superb, the writing is wonderful and it even features the option to play in multiple languages so you can go with either subs or the dub. Both are great in their own right. The newest version of the game has been updated to play off the Unity Engine rather than the older one used by the developers to create other similar great games such as Senren Banka and Making Banka. The new engine allows higher resolutions which is always a great and convenient feature. Using a whole new engine clearly shows the developers put time and effort into this game which is always appreciated.

Never Say Zwei

The game really doesn’t have any real problems to be honest which is another testament to it’s quality. Everything works how you would expect with the only real nitpick being that the different paths sometime rely too much on each other.

There will be some details you won’t really understand until you play through the game again with different choices. But seeing as how you’d likely do that anyway due to how good the game is, it’s not really a big deal and only causes mild confusion at first.
