I loved Assassin’s Creed Origins and wondered if the follow-up, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey could live up to that. I am a massive fan of this series and have been since the first game. I am one of the few people who even when the series hit the rocks, still found some enjoyment with it. Well, Ubisoft managed to get the series back on track with Origins and this would be the second game to use the same style of gameplay.
To say that this game is story-driven is a massive understatement. You could put 100 plus hours into this if you were to beat the story and all of the side missions. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set during the days of ancient Greece and the setting is one that I really enjoyed. You can play as a male or female character; they are siblings and depending on what one you play as the story will differ slightly.
Look At The Lighting!
As I write this, we are coming to the end of this console generation and I would say that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is one of the best-looking games of this generation. Even on the bog-standard PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game looks fantastic. From ancient Greek towns to the woods to the ocean there is a ton of variety to the areas in this game. I do not think there is a poor one among them. They have all been crafted with a ton of effort and love. The lighting effects are second to none. They really manage to bring the world to life even more. The voice acting is some of, if not the best the series has ever had! It really does help you get more invested in what is going down.
Who Spilt RPG In My Assassin’s Creed?
Origins introduced some RPG elements to the series and this game takes that even further. You have different skill trees that you can utilize. I am more of a hit first ask questions later kind of player so I went all-in with the attack one, but it is up to you how you go about this. The skill tree lets you tweak the player to your gaming style and that is cool.
There is also a crafting system here that is very well done. I have heard that some players have managed to beat the game with the stuff they stated with as they upgraded it along the way. As well as main missions, you have a ton of side missions that you can do as well and these are just as interesting and fun as the main quests.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the biggest game in the series so far. The game world is massive, there are tons of missions, RPG elements, and the game is going to keep you entertained for 100 plus hours easy. I love this series and this is easily in the top three games for me. I will say that if you did not like what Origins offered then you may not get much out of this either. I though, freaking loved this game!

- Tons of missions
- Even the side missions are entertaining
- I liked the more in-depth RPG mechanics
- Some of the best voice acting in the series
- Some of the textures can pop in a tad late
- If you did not like Origins, you may struggle with this
