Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles

Deck-building games have become a very popular genre that have quickly filled store shelves and overwhelmed us with just how many there are. Fortunately, Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles has tried to set themselves apart from other deck-building rogue-like games with the addition of dice to make things that much different.

There are hundreds of different dice in the game, all with different features that do something different in the game. Dice may reduce the risk involved in using them to a safe level or come with great power, but are much more dangerous to use.

Life in the Balance

The game centers around purification and corruption. You’ll need to strike a balance between both in order to win. Purification can help pacify enemies, while Corruption can help you untap new abilities. It’s your choice which to use, but with everything there is a risk to it. You’ll have to judge for yourself on each move whether the risk is worth it.

Dark, gothic theme

Astras: Six-Sided Oracles isn’t just a card game, it also has significant RPG elements. The moody, gothic style drawings add to the feel of the game, and help to tell the story of a decaying goddess that needs purified in a swiftly declining world.

You’ll get to choose one of 6 different oracles to be your character as you select from your dice deck and learn more about the world around you. Each character has its own unique dice set, which means changing who you are can have an influence on the entire game.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is yet to be released, but there’s plenty to get excited about. This is not the first game released by developers Akupara Games and Brazil-Based Little Leo Games. These two have a history of exciting Indy games, and have tackled a number of different genres in the past.

While Astras: Six-Sided Oracles is a deck-building game following in the footsteps of games like Slay The Spire or Monster Train, its clear that the unique fingerprints of Akupara Games are all over this as well.

The release date itself for this game has not been announced, but you can add it to your wish list on Steam if you are hoping to get hold of a copy.

It’s hard to judge this game based on the scant information available on it right now. The developers have only released a demo video and a feature list at this point, but based on their past successes this game has a lot of potential to change the genre.
