For a while now it seems that farming sim games have been getting more and more popular and there could be some pretty good reasons for this, and we'll explore them later on. Farming Life is a pure example of farming simulator games and some of the things they all have in common. This game is soon to be fully released, so this could be a great chance to talk about it and explore what, if anything, makes it unique and special. so, without further ado, let's get started with Farming Life.
About the game
Farming Life represents a farming simulation most purely, focusing exclusively on taking care of a farm, the entire game is built around the idea of growing and taking care of your very own farm. But keep in mind that farms can get way bigger than what you usually think.
Building the perfect farm means planning the shed locations, the roads to use, the village houses, granaries, and more. Use strategy to plan the optimal routes and create efficient ways to move in the farm to get the best results. You have the chance to plant many different fruits and vegetables, but also take care of your animals and plants.
But that's not all, you are completely in charge, this means not only do you have to do a lot of the work there, but also manage the resources available. And with this also comes managing the employees and the economic part of having a farm. You'll learn about managing financial operations and keeping your workers happy as you make your farm into the biggest and best farm around.
Why farming games?
In recent years we've seen a growth in the gamer's interest in farming sims, but not just that. Those, but also any game that's calming and colorful. It could be that games are getting a bit tired of being pushed to the extreme all the time. With most AAA titles being action-packed games, these colorful, charming, and calm experiences are more needed by the day.
Titles like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing New Horizons are the proof, the latter being basically the best-selling game of the best-selling console in 2020. Of course, Farming Life is nowhere nearly as popular as any of these games, but of course, it isn't nearly as good either...
Farming Life is a charming idea of a game that comes out as a somehow awkward experience. It’s not really bad, but while the art style is good, the visuals are annoyingly low quality. The game has potential but doesn’t make much use of it. It is entertaining, but some mechanics are confusing, and it ends up being boring.
Unlike animal crossing where there are many other things you can do, the same thing goes for Stardew Valley, but here things are pretty repetitive. It’s still a cute game, and it’s nice to have as an escape from all the action and explosions we are used to seeing in bigger titles.
