Get ready for Book of Travels by Might and Delight. This interesting little game appears to focus primarily, if not entirely, upon travelling from place to place. It appears that the idea of “it’s not the destination, but the journey” that holds most relevance in this unique title. With an interesting take on multiplayer and a gorgeous world with a fantastic art style, lets take a look at what this game may have to offer.

Gameplay

From what we have seen with the gameplay videos, there appears to be an incredible vast world on display here and the majority of the gameplay follows your journey through it. It has been revealed that it is up to the player to create their own stories and destinations but beyond that it appears to be a relatively straightforward role-playing game.

You pick one of 20+ forms with detailed character sheets that appear to do away with the stat and strengths that we see in other games, in favor of a character’s personality. You can define your chosen character by unlocking over 300 abilities, be it magical or passive, that will help with your journey.

Something that I am quite pleased about is that the game seems to focus on, and rewards, courteous behavior in its players. Without any visible combat, we can see that the game focuses more on exploration and discovery.

The team has explained that they are fully committed to continuing production on this title long after it is released, providing new characters and thousands of stories to explore. I am somewhat reminded of the old Escape from Monkey Island games with its point and click, adventure game nature. I’d even suggest that there are RuneScape vibes coming from this game as well but maybe with a hint of Yonder in it, as there is no visible combat.

Story

There has been no revealed overarching story as of yet. It looks as though the game focuses more on the adventure and exploration surrounding adventuring. There could be hundreds of many tiny quests for the player to engage in, giving this title tremendous continuous play value.

Art Style

The art style here is nothing short of stunning. It’s minimalist but interesting, it shows you exactly what it wants you to see, what it wants you to focus on. Players are offered a fantastic, vibrant and diverse world that are all conveyed perfectly through this unique art style.

Conclusion

This looks like it could be a very interesting title that we should all watch with interest.
