Automobile simulation games are all the rage at the moment. Car Manufacture is another addition to what feels like a growing market in niche vehicle games. Here, players will take on the role of building and managing a car factory in the early 20th century with nothing but a few thousand dollars and a dream of being the next car tycoon.

There are seven different cities to set up your factory, many resources to grow, and plenty of room for innovation. If you were put into the shows of an automobile entrepreneur in the 1900s, how would you run your factory? Car Manufacture is a title that aims to determine exactly how you'd do it. But does the game provide the necessary infrastructure to create a practical car plant blueprint?

Car Goes Vroom

It's worth mentioning that Car Manufacture is still in early access, so undoubtedly, there will be flaws in the game upon initial release. However, upon firing up your scenario, the game's extensive reach is immediately apparent, tasked with building the most remarkable automobile plant your city has ever seen. Players must budget right for production lines, hire the right staff, innovate desirable products, and everything else.

But it's apparent quickly that there's plenty of room for improvement in Car Manufacture. Ultimately, the game's grand ambitions and complex mechanics let it down. Despite the tutorial being intuitive for all players and setting a path for success, accomplishing your goals becomes marred by the messy UI and cluster of animations that often blind players.

Building and budgeting make little sense. Trade exchanges with resources and materials for your production line often confuse how much you've spent or gotten back, where placing said items in your plant can become frustrating. For a game of scale, the lack of promised customizability will disappoint players keen on innovating the next big thing.

Surprisingly, the level of realism in car sales is also a drawback. Players can get left annoyed by the fact that, more times than not, you'll find yourself in an unfixable bind, running out of funds for development before you've even managed to sell your first car. Some would enjoy the budgeting difficulty. But it seems too complicated for a casual sim to get going.

Production Must Continue

As aforementioned, the Car Manufacture is in early access. All player feedback will be considered for future development. However, at the moment, the game leaves plenty to be desired if it wants to reach the grand scale it outlines in its roadmap. The title provides too much yet too little simultaneously, often confusing players.
