I am a real sucker when it comes to simulator games and Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator caught my attention right away. This is a game that is not listed as being in early access, but the developer has been making changes, doing fixes, and even adding extra content since the game has been released, which is neat. If you have ever wanted to work in fast food or if you have worked in fast food before, this is the game for you. I worked in a burger joint during high school, and let me tell you, there are some parts of this game that gave me PTSD!

I Have A Dream!

There is not a big plot going on with Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator, but the basics are the same as with any other simulator game that is all about growing your business. You start off with pretty humble beginnings, and then you need to work up to making your business as successful as it can be. Hey, at the end of the day, this is all you need from any kind of job simulator game if you ask me. You get bits of dialogue here and there with the staff and of course the customers….. the god damn customers, that was what gave me PTSD. Anyone who has ever worked in fast food knows what I am talking about here!

Starting Small

As is the case with all simulator games, Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator has you starting off small with a little location and the bare basics to make the kind of fast food that you want to sell. The game is played from the first-person, and I did find the movement to be a bit on the erratic side at first, but you do get used to it. To be honest, this is quite realistic as a fast food job does often has you going from doing nothing to having to move at 100 mph to keep things going the way that they should be. It is the kind of game where you can delegate, but you also have to keep on top of everything, especially as your fast food business starts to grow!

Good Help Is Hard To Find!

One of the ways that I thought Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator was realistic was how things quite often would go wrong. You may start out small, but as you grow, you will need to hire more staff, and good staff is hard to come by. The chefs will bitch that they do not have the right ingredients or the wrong orders have been made. Runners will fall over, drop food, and so on. There are a lot of moving pieces in the fast food game, so you will always feel like your attention is required somewhere. Even when things are going smoothly, you are just waiting for something to happen. The fast food business is anything but relaxing, especially when it is busy, and this game does a very good job of capturing that.

The Real Burger King!

The addictive part of Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator comes in the form of growing your fast food business and making sure you are the number one chain around. You can buy new and better equipment that in theory, will make your food prepping easier. You will have more money to hire more and, in theory, better staff. Plus, you can really spruce the place by decorating it and putting your own spin on things. When I added a second floor to my place, I went with a cool forest/jungle theme and went really over the top with the plants and decorations, and I thought it was awesome. As far as I am aware, more stuff is going to be added, and I hope that they add more stuff so we can make a better replica of some of the well known fast food chains.

8.5

I had a lot of fun with Corner Kitchen Fast Food Simulator and I think if you have worked in fast food, you will get a kick out of how true to life some of the stuff here is, especially the incompetence of some of the staff that you will be dealing with and the entitled asshole customers! However, I can see some of those aspects perhaps being a little frustrating for some others. In all, I had fun with this, and I liked how it always kept me busy as something always required my attention. If you are into job simulator style games, I highly recommend that you check this one out.

Pros:

  • I liked the whole “go, go, go” nature of the game
  • It has many realistic elements of working in fast food
  • There is always something that needs your attention
  • This is a very addictive kind of game

Cons:

  • Some may find the screw ups your staff do to be frustrating
  • I did find the movement speed a tad erratic at first
