Destiny 2: Lightfall

Bungie's epic sci-fi world is about to get even more extensive thanks to the long-awaited Destiny 2: Lightfall. The latest expansion in the world of Destiny's Guardians, Lightfall promises to take this legendary adventure to new heights – literally. Thanks to the inclusion of some new movement mechanics, this might be one of the best expansions the game has ever received.

An expansion that should serve as a blueprint for all of Bungie's future endeavors, Destiny 2: Lightfall refines some of the roughest aspects of the game while also keeping in mind accessibility for players who are just now joining in on the fun.

Space Invaders

Appropriately for an expansion of legendary proportions such as this, Destiny 2: Lightfall introduces an all-new campaign that's full of the action and thrills the series is known for. Bungie, the original developers of the Halo franchise, used their best narrative talent for this entry, and it most certainly shows.

From entire revamps to the mobility systems of most classes to the inclusion of a new, impressively agile Guardian, Lightfall shows that there are still more surprises to be found in the sci-fi world of Destiny 2. One area where this expansion really impresses is in its map design: as far as we know, Lightfall could be an entirely different game rather than merely an expansion pack.

Surviving Neomuna

The expansion's campaign will take players to Neomuna, a sprawling Neptunian city. Some players might draw parallels between Neomuna and Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, thanks to the new cyberpunk designs that look fantastic in Destiny 2's capable engine.

That said, while CD Projekt's controversial RPG focused more on horizontal traversal, Destiny 2: Lightfall is all about that sweet verticality. Levels are divided into multiple layers that players can explore using the newly added grappling hooks. Neomuna is also the hunting ground of the Strand, the newest class to join this epic fray.

The Strand rewards players who move fast and apply complex combos. They are easily the fastest subclass in the game at the moment, and their unique allegiance makes them a great pick for seasoned players. It almost feels like you stopped playing Destiny and began playing Warframe all of a sudden when playing with a high-level Strand – it's just that good!

Streamlined Builds

A common complaint between new Destiny 2 players has to do with the game's many complex menus and terminology. Some of these things can be daunting to newcomers, which is why Bungie has made it their objective to streamline the process a bit with what they're calling "Buildcrafting 2.0."

What this means is that armor and weapon modifications are easier to understand – that includes what every stat and effect does, as well as what every item in the customization menu actually does. This is a godsend for even seasoned players, who might find the simplified view just as versatile as the old one.
