FIFA 18 is a football simulation game featuring 52 stadiums from 12 countries that are fully registered. It also includes 32 generic stadiums bringing the total to 82. The football games are commentated by Martin Tyler and Allan Smith with other specific game information being provided by Allan McLinally (Geoff Shreeves (injury reports), in-game score updates, and classified reports by Mike West. The game comes with new celebrating styles for goals including Wayne Rooney’s knock out Cristiano Ronaldo’s SIIU, Samuel Etoo’s old man, Robert Lewandowski’s X, and kissing finger celebration by Raul.
The Journey mode which is a story based mode originally introduced in FIFA 17 dictates that if a player successfully completes a task in FIFA 17, they carry on into FIFA 18 with the same team together with the titles such as premier league and FA cup title. In FIFA 18, players can unlock new traits for the main character, Alex Hunter such as hairstyles and clothes.
Hunter is fully customizable in this edition as opposed to FIFA 17 where Hunter was only limited to the Premier League and Championship. The trailer for this game mode shows many new players featured including Cristiano Ronaldo, Delle Alli, Gyasi Zardes, Rio Ferdinand, and Thierry Henry.
FIFA 18 was developed and published by Electronic Arts and released to the world on 29th September 2017. The game is playable on Microsoft Windows, PS 3 and 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It represents the 25th installment in the FIFA series and it is the second installment to use frostbite 3 game engine. Different game engines may be used for different versions of the game.
Versions of Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox one include a continuation of a story-based mode referred to as "The Journey" that was originally contained in FIFA 17. This does not include the Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 versions whose only new features are the updated squads based on transfers and the new kits used by teams. The cover athlete of the regular edition is a Portuguese football star, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Other notable features include the inclusion of the 3rd tier league of the German Bundesliga, Iceland, and Saudi Arabia national teams, Men and Women New Zealand football teams and Spain’s 3rd Liga. The Turkish football league is included after EA successfully renewed its operation license with them. There is also the introduction of quick subs where a player can make substitutions when the ball goes out of the field of play. The game follows similar productions in the FIFA series from FIFA 95 on to FIFA 20.
