Gridders

The evil Gridder Corporation has been hired to save the Earth from totally depleting its natural resources. The heartless director is using the secret Gridder technology to completely automate his factory. His goal is finally reached as his last worker, Zach, is laid off. Now join Zach as he outsmarts the Gridders on their own turf. You must find a way to get to the bottom level of the factory to discover the power behind the Gridders. The keys to get to a lower level are hidden inside the 3-D blocks themselves.

Remember Klax? Cridders is a similar game, but it takes the puzzler genre to a new level by putting you in the middle of the action. Although the game isn't a champion, its 3D graphics and parallax scrolling make it a great change of pace for puzzle fans.

You Block Head

As Zack, you navigate 36 grids to reach the basement of an evil corporation to disarm it. Giant Gridder blocks roll intermittently across each grid. You must avoid the Cridders, which will instantly squash you.

To escape each level, you must solve a puzzle and open the exit to the next level by finding the correct number of green pyramid keys. In addition to the crushing Cridders, there are elevator squares, trap doors, diversion squares, and more - all of which you use to solve the puzzle.

Gridders' graphics draw you in immediately, and they're certainly a first for puzzle games. The giant rolling blocks and 3D graphics are very realistic. The thud of blocks and scrunch sounds when Zack gets crushed add to the effect.

Zack's easy to control, and the game play, though complex and difficult in the more complicated levels, is easy to understand. The levels don't change after you play them. Once you've mastered each, it's no fun to try them again.
