Higan: Eruthyll is currently in prelaunch with closed Beta available in Canada, Singapore, and Malaysia. It will be released around the world at a later date. Although its currently only available in a few select locations, it does give us the chance to take a good solid look at gameplay and see what is coming for the rest of the world. That gameplay reveals that Higan: Eruthyll has an interesting storyline and some nice features. You will play as the Commander of the Gopher Troupe, which is a specialized task force designed to defend the world against the Dream Eaters of Fantasy Land.
The game has content that unlocks as you go along, with the first major piece being the main story quest.
Good graphics are a must for any anime style gacha game. Those who have been fortunate enough to play the previews for Honkai: Star Rail may be reminded of the same glorious style in this games detailed characters. There’s already a generous number of characters in the beta, which suggests that there will be a variety of choices to choose from once the game is officially released.
Gacha Part Is Stingy
This is a gacha game, which means you’ll be exchanging money or played for tokens to win new characters. The lottery system in this game could be better. Pulls are 180 each, but there’s no fail-safes for losing the 50/50, and only a 2% chance of getting a character. On top of this, with the developer offering so little stamina to start with, the game almost tips into the “pay to win” territory.
Fortunately you can win pulls from winning stages and missions, but again with so little stamina available players are severely limited in how much farming they can do.
Combat in the Game
Higan: Eruthyll has auto-combat for the most part. Your main goal is to time the abilities of your characters for the most damage possible during a battle. Characters are placed on a grid and their location does matter during a battle. Characters have different abilities and can do things like interrupt a mob’s special or draw a crowd of enemies together for AoE damage. The huge cast of characters make combat interesting and fairly flexible.
The story has been changed several times since the beginning of the game. Some players have complained that it now feels rushed and there’s always some sort of tension between the girls without any downtime at all. This may change as the developers continue to polish the game.
This game is nice, but doesn’t do much to separate itself from so many other gacha games. It has great graphics, but so do most of the other games. It has a huge cast of characters, but again, that’s fairly normal.
It may be worth checking out if your between games at the moment, but there isn’t anything especially amazing here.
