There’s no question what this game will remind you of the moment you start playing. The fast paced combat, upgradable weaponry, and intense situations all make for an intense gaming experience. Ascendant Studios has also worked hard to make this game strongly story based.

You play Jak, a boy who developed magical powers unexpectedly after birth. Jak has a rare gift that allows him to tap into ley lines and use their full magical ability. Because of this, he is trained to fight in a never-ending war over the world’s magical gifts.

Stunning Graphics

As if the strong story and novelty of magical combat wasn’t enough, the graphics are extremely good. Everything from the extremely detailed CG to the mood lighting in this game is exquisitely designed. The new studio gathered over 100 of the best developers in the world to create this game, and it is easily seen in the beauty of this masterpiece.

Exploration and Puzzle Solving

Most of the game consists of combat and upgrading your character. It’s an intense, 25 hour or so, campaign. Yet despite this, the developers still made room for exploration and puzzle solving as well. Through these stents of puzzle solving, we get to see that Jak can use his magic for other things besides violence. The same spells used for combat can be repurposed for other things during these puzzles.

Epic Gameplay

It’s clear from the moment you lay your hands on this game that this is likely to be one of the best games of the year. Ascendent Studios has taken inspiration from some of the best games in the world, from the classic Call of Duty all the way to God of War, and even dipping into fantasies like Lord of the Rings. Together, they have rewoven all these games into a fascinating new game that will inspire and excite players from a variety of different genres.

This is likely to be one of the most popular new games of the year. Ascendent Studios realized there was a game they wanted to play, and it wasn’t out yet. Although the concept can be boiled down to Call of Duty with magic, it’s really so much more than that.
