I will admit that Learn to Fly 3 took me by surprise as I had never actually heard of this series before I stumbled across it. Want to know who I stumbled across this game? It was the penguin, I saw the cute and funny penguin and I wondered what the heck this game was, a few hours later and I was well and truly hooked. This is basically a kind of puzzle game and one that is very fun, very charming, and also very free to play so that is awesome.
To The Moon!
The idea of Learn to Fly 3 is that we play the role of this adorable little penguin. While this penguin may be adorable, they have big dreams and those dreams are to build a spaceship and make it to the moon! Ok, so no one is ever going to accuse this game of being a story driven masterpiece or anything like that, but it is cute and something that I got a pretty bit kick out of.
Becoming A Rocket Man…. Or Rocket Penguin!
You start off with some pretty humble parts that you can build your rocket ship within Learn to Fly 3. The idea being that your three main areas which are your speed, drag, and altitude will earn your coins as you progress. The more coins you earn, the more stuff you can unlock, and ultimately you will complete your goal of taking your rocket ship to the moon. It is easier said than done as at first, I was building ships that were just very poorly designed with way too much drag so I was getting nowhere. It was not until I really started thinking about this like a puzzle game that I started to get it.
Beyond The Moon
Once you have made it to the moon, Learn to Fly 3 is not over! For a free to play game, this is actually kind of stacked and impressive with its game modes. Once you have done the story mode, you can then play the payload mode and the classic mode. Payload mode is like story mode, but here you have to take stuff up into space, forcing you to build stronger and better ships to tackle the different weights and sizes of the payloads. Classic mode is more about getting as far as you can and there is even a sandbox mode that lets you build stuff and just screw around.
Pika-Penguin
How can you look at Learn to Fly 3 and not smile? I just love the whole vibe of this game, to be fair it could be because penguins are my favorite animal (hence why Piplup has always been my favorite Pokémon) and our adorable little penguin here can be dressed up in all kinds of cosmetics that we can buy as we progress through the game.
I had fun changing hit outfits until I came across the one that resembled Pikachu and then that was that, there was no way I was changing him after unlocking that one.
I kind of want to go back and play the other games in this series now as Learn to Fly 3 was a real surprise for me. I had such a blast with this game (no pun intended) and I was shocked at how much there was to do for a free to play game. Honestly, if this had cost me ten bucks, I would not have been made and I would have considered it money well spent. If you are looking for a charming puzzle game, you have to try this out!
Pros:
- It has a penguin as the main character and penguin’s rock!
- At its core, this is a fun and challenging puzzle game
- I loved the whole style and vibe that the game had
- There are multiple game modes to play
Cons:
- It can be sometimes hard to know what parts are right for a specific payload
- To be fair, the game has a lot of content for a free to play title, but I would love to see this expanded upon
