LEGO Brawls

I enjoyed the mobile version of LEGO Brawls and it is shaping up to be an overall even better experience when it comes to PC and console. In case you are not sure what the heck this game is, I thought I would share with you why this is a game that you need to keep a close eye on and why it is well worth your time checking out. I am a huge fan of LEGO and the LEGO video games in general, and this is one of the better ones to come out in recent years.

Your Own Mini Fig!

The idea of LEGO Brawls is that you are the hero of the game! You get to build your very own LEGO Mini Figure. To be fair, this has been done in past games, for example, LEGO DC Super Villains allowed you to do this. However, the Mini Fig creator in this game is much more detailed and in-depth than was on offer here. You have a lot of ways that you can build your LEGO Mini Fig, not just in terms of how they look, but the moves and abilities they have as well.

Not Quite All Your Favorite LEGO Franchises In One Place

One of the most awesome things about LEGO is the way it brings so many iconic franchises together. LEGO Brawls does capture this quite well, for example, popular LEGO created franchises like Ninjago, Monkie Kid, and Hidden Side are here. They also have some awesome classic LEGO themes as well such as Space, Castle, and Pirates. They do have Jurassic World content in the game which is awesome, but I wish they could have worked something out so that they could have had Star Wars, Marvel, and DC content in the game. Perhaps this is something that will be added at a later date? Still, it is very impressive the amount of LEGO franchises they have managed to cram into this game. It is not just LEGO Mini Figs either, there is also a great selection of environments based on the various properties.

Battling For Dominance

The best way to describe the gameplay of LEGO Brawls is that of a classic fighting/platforming game. I know that Super Smash Bros is the easiest comparison and there is certainly some of that here, but there is also more “brawler” style gameplay here too. You can play on your own, but the game is at its most fun when you are playing with your friends and you are either working together or trying to fight each other to take the center of the map which is the ultimate goal.

LEGO Blind Bags

We have all had fun buying one of the ten thousand LEGO Blind Bags that are released each year! However, LEGO Brawls has a kind of similar mechanic. As you progress through the game, you will unlock various chests that will contain new cosmetics and abilities for your LEGO Mini Fig to use. As this is a mobile game in its origin, I am sure this is setting a few alarm bells ringing for some of you guys and I get it. However, I do think that for the console release, they may be a bit more generous with how they dish these new items out to players.

Pros:

• There are many different LEGO franchises in this game
• Creating your own LEGO Mini Fig is a lot of fun
• I love the way the different LEGO environments look
• This is a blast to play with your friends

Cons:

• I am not sure how long the game will keep people who play on their own entertained
• It is a shame they do not have some of the bigger LEGO licenses as part of the game
