Refunct is a platformer that takes place in a calm, blocky world that’s very reminiscent of Minecraft in many ways. It’s a very relaxing game and offers a nice change of pace from the action-packed, fast-paced games that saturate the market nowadays. If you’re looking for a game that’ll help take your mind off things and clear your head for half an hour, then be sure to download Refunct.
Blocky platforming
3D platforming and parkour make up the core gameplay of Refunct. You can run, slide, and wall-jump your way around the world in a similar way to how you would in a game like Mirror’s Edge. It’s a very freeing and euphoric experience once you get the hang of the controls.
You’ve also got pipes, lifts, and even springboards dotted about the map to help you travel about. The game is relatively simple but has a lot of different elements that keep things interesting.
No pressure gameplay
There aren’t any enemies or time limits in Refunct, meaning you can do everything at your own pace and take your time. You can’t die in the peaceful world of Refunct either, so be sure to run around as much as you like and try all sorts of movements out. There’s no pressure at all, so make the most of it and have fun! Also, if you’re worried about it being difficult, don’t be! Whether you’re a platforming veteran or still getting to grips with movement mechanics in video games, the game caters to all skill levels and is pretty easy to get the hang of. Within a few minutes of entering the game, you'll no doubt be darting around already and having a blast.
A relaxing atmosphere
Refunct strives to provide a relaxing experience for all players and it does this through the use of music and beautiful visuals. Let’s first talk about the soundtrack, which is fantastic and has a lot of emotion in it. It’s sure to help immerse you in the game and take your mind off the troubles of real life as you hop around freely.
In terms of the visuals, the blocky world is really nice on its own, but what makes it even better is the surrounding water that ripples and shimmers in the sunlight. There's something so calming about being around oceans, and the game captures that feeling perfectly.
Overall, Refunct is a lovely indie game that is well worth the small price for the short, casual gameplay that it offers. It’ll be a nice break from the more intense games out there.
