Road Maintenance Simulator

Get ready to put on your hardhat and experience life as a road worker. Road Maintenance Simulator is a game that lets you try out life maintaining roads somewhere in the German countryside. This simulator features over 30 missions that show you different aspects of road maintenance. This includes the use of 8 different vehicles to complete these tasks.

Each mission requires players to perform a variety of tasks, from trimming trees to laying out road markers. All of the tasks have to be completed correctly to finish the mission.

Open World Map

The game features an open world map that allows you to drive on all the freeways, as well as a depot players are free to walk around in. The sandbox style gameplay is one of the favorite features most people like in the game, although the roads don’t really allow players off of them, limiting some of the experience.

A neat feature the simulator added is hands and feet. When placing down a cone or collecting up debris, you can see your hands actually doing these things. It doesn’t just pop out of nowhere like in many other games.

Buggy

Unfortunately, while the idea behind Road Maintenance Simulator is interesting, it is plagued with issues. Many people report having issues with the controllers, with up and down being reversed. Others report lack of sound for construction vehicles that should be making sounds. The gas doesn’t work on the road roller, so players can’t drive on that particular vehicle.

These are just a few examples of issues players have had, and if something does get fixed, the fix seems to cause more issues. It’s a frustrating aspect to the game. This isn’t unique to Road Maintenance Simulator, similar construction games like Construction Simulator also seem to be plagued with these issues. Most people felt that between the bugs and the gameplay, the $25 price point isn’t worth it. The game was a lot better received when it was on sale for half the price.

Short Gameplay

Although the game brags about it’s 30 missions being ‘extensive’ this boils down to about 2-3 hours of gameplay. It’s not a long game at all, and there’s not much to do once it has been played through. This makes it perfect if it is for a quick weekend game, but again not at the original price point set by the developer.
