I have been following SEASIDE MYSTERY pretty closely for a while and it is honestly one of the lewd games that gets me excited when a new update or fix drops. This is a very fun kind of game that is a bit of a dating sim and lewd visual novel game, but it also has some adventure game elements too. It tells a pretty compelling story with interesting characters and I am impressed with how much there is to the actual gameplay too. It still does have a bit of work that needs to be done, but each update does add something new or fixes something so the developer is most certainly on the right track.

A Sunny Place For A New Start

SEASIDE MYSTERY as the title suggests, is a story about living at the seaside, however, how we get there is not exactly great. The main character in the game is a young guy who has lost both of his parents. This was not exactly a normal kind of death and it has resulted in us having to move to this quaint seaside town where we soon discovered that there was more to our parent's deaths than we thought. Of course, as well as the mystery stuff, we also have dating sim elements here too where we get to know various characters better.

Slow And Steady Wins The Race

Even though the story of SEASIDE MYSTERY is not yet complete as I write this, I am really enjoying the direction that it is going in. It is much more of a slow burn kind of story and your relationships with the characters you encounter happen over time. It is not like you meet the mom or her daughter and they want to bang you right away. Things happen at a slower, more deliberate pace and for the story that is being told here, that works very well. I am legit excited to see where the developer takes this as I do have a few theories about certain things that I am interested to see if they pan out or not.

The Who, What, Where, And Why!

Controlling our main character in SEASIDE MYSTERY does take a little moment to get used to. He is controlled in a kind of point-and-click adventure style. By that I mean, you click where you want him to go and if he can, he will. There are mini-games here such as a fun volleyball one and you do have a few different stats that will get improved by doing certain actions and things repeatedly. One of the gameplay things that I love here is that the game has a built in system to keep you on track! I love this! I hate games that give you zero direction and while some may argue that the system here makes the game more linear, I like it and think that it makes the game more fun than if it were not here.

My Kind Of Paradise

I really like what the developer has done with the visuals in SEASIDE MYSTERY. They have gone for a more realistic look, but we do get to tinker with character design which I like. The boss’s wife in particular is super hot and I love how the chicks all have big boobs! The little bits of lewd content that I came across were done very well, but to be honest, this game is not just about being a nonstop sex fest so I kind of like how the lewd content is not super frequent, I think that would come at the expense of the story, to be honest with you.

While I can easily see why a lewd game with not a ton of XXX content and a slower-paced story may not be for everyone. I am really loving what SEASIDE MYSTERY has to offer and even though the story has a fair way to go before it is complete, I am pretty hooked and want to know how this thing is going to wrap up. I also like how this is an actual “video game” and it offers more than what you usually get with a lewd dating sim or visual novel.

The boss sure does have a hot wife and daughter
I am very interested to know what the truth behind the parent's death is!
There is a bit of variety to the gameplay
The game has a great system for keeping you on track

I liked the slow pace of the story, but it may not click with everyone
It is not full of lewd content

As I write this, Seaside Mystery is very much still a work in progress type of game, but I had fun with this and I feel that it has a lot of potential. What we have here is a lewd sandbox type game. It has a bit of exploration, stats to grind, and of course a few sexy scenes as well. I like it when I come across a game like this, do not get me wrong, I would love it if the game were in a completed state. However, I find myself smiling when I play this as I can clearly see all of the pieces are falling into the right place.

Let’s Twist Again

One of the main reasons that I decided to give Seaside Mystery a try, even though the game is not yet complete (and still a little ways away from being so) was because this developer also made another lewd game called, The Twist and I had a lot of fun with that. The reason that I am bringing that up is because if you have played that game and you enjoyed the overall style and vibe, this is kind of more of the same if you get what I am saying so I am certain you will have fun with this too. They are not “connected” but this does kind of have a spiritual successor kind of vibe to it.

Not The Paradise I Thought It Was

The title of Seaside Mystery is a giveaway in regards to the type of story you are going to be dealing with here. The game does not have all of the story pieces in place yet, but we do get the setup and the basics of what is going down. We play the role of a young man that has lost his parents and we have had to move to this little seaside town. It looks like a paradise kind of place, but we soon discover some stuff about the loss of our parents, our father's boss, and also some other stuff that makes this new place we are calling home not seem like the dream place it appears to be from the outside. It does have a lot of promise and I am quite interested to see what twists and turns the developer has in store for us with the story.

A Mother And Daughter Kind Of Affair

At first glance, Seaside Mystery may not look like the most amazing game when it comes to the visuals, but I kind of get a kick out of this thing. The character designs have a bit of a PlayStation 3, maybe early PlayStation 4 era kind of thing going on with them and that is pretty fun. There is not much in the way of lewd content in the build of the game that I played, but the boss’s wife and his daughter are easy on the eyes and I like how we have the big boobed dream milf type character and the hot younger lady too. I am sure more XXX stuff will be added, but I did like and appreciate what was here so far.

Keeping You On A Tight Leash

I do feel that Seaside Mystery is a bit more dynamic than their last game in that it feels like you have more movement. This is a sandbox style of game where you have to go to certain places and speak to certain characters at the right time. The game is quite linear in that it seems to want you to do things in a very specific way, but in the game's defense, it does a decent job of keeping you on track. We have a few stats that we can grind up by doing certain things repeatedly, but in the build of the game I played, this did not seem to be overdone or really amount to much at the moment.

It is not really fair of me to give Seaside Mystery a score just yet as it does have quite a bit of work to be done on it. What we have here is like a first release or perhaps even an extended demo and I think that if you play it, you will know for sure if this is a game for you or not. I am liking the whole “mystery” thing that is going on and I am very interested to see how it is all going to play out. I do think that the visuals are something of an acquired taste, but I like them.
