Well from what we have seen, there appears to be some kind of story involved in this visual fustercluck of a game. Wang is still messing about after his last game and has teamed up with former rival, Orochi Zilla, to defeat an Ancient Dragon that they have accidentally released.
I get a strong feeling that although the story will be ever present and will provide the necessary narrative momentum to move the game forward with a clear and overarching enemy who cannot be ignored or forgotten. Besides that, the chunk of the gameplay will be brutalizing enemies and finding new ways to brutalize enemies.
Thanks to the taste 17 minutes of gruesome gameplay that has been released, we can take a clear look at what the combat and movement is looking to feature. If I had to draw an immediate comparison, it looks considerably like an Asian inspired Doom or Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus but tied in with the classic comedy that accompanied its gameplay, much like Bulletstorm had.
It’s brutal, its bloody, it got some of that intense Christmas lights headache visuals where its all a flurry of guts, people bits, blades, bullets and fire that keeps people invested. Developers claim that they wanted to make the player really feel over powered and from what I’ve seen, that has been accomplished beautifully.
There has been some gameplay updates like finishers and wall running that has been added, this will likely make the whole movement system feel a lot more fluid and satisfying.
There has, without a doubt, been a huge upgrade to visuals from the previous titles. Everything looks sleek and polished in a way that is undoubtedly tough to beat. The scenery is distinctly Chinese and Japanese inspired with some gorgeous color palettes that really make the environment pop. IT isn’t all about blood and guts but that plays large part of this title and the blood effects looks cool so I’m positive this will provide a hilarious romp through death and destruction. Let’s hope it has some replay value. Rating: N/A
