STUFFED

At first, when I saw STUFFED, I thought that it was cute, but then I saw this weird shadow creature and realized that there is something kind of sinister among the cuteness and that got me pretty excited. What we have here is a “cute” first-person shooter where we do not play as some hulking dude with a bad attitude! Instead, we play as a teddy bear trying to save their owner from the horrors of the night!

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

The setting of the game is the dreams of a little girl called Ellie. We play as a teddy bear who is there to protect her from the nightmares that wish to do her harm. I have to say that STUFFED has a pretty awesome premise for a video game and while I cannot say for sure just how much story is here, what I have seen so far is very cool. There is a good mixture of cute dream like stuff and nightmares as well.

Defending The Door!

The game takes place in Ellie’s house (well dream house) and we have to protect her from these creatures that wish to do her harm. The house is procedurally generated so no two games of STUFFED are ever going to be exactly the same. You have to fight off wave after wave of enemies until the round is done. Once a round is done, you can then fight the boss who awaits at the end of the night. Also, you can use the XP you have earned to get new abilities.

The game is a first-person shooter and a pretty fast paced one at that. You have all kinds of fun weapons that are stuff you could imagine coming from the mind of a kid. A gun that shoots cola or instead of grenades, you launch popcorn for example. You can try and save the night on your own, or you can team up with a friend in local or online co-op.

Dreams, They Can Come True!

Visually, STUFFED has an interesting style to it. It has a kind of fluffy and dream like appearance which as we are in a dream is to be expected. It is kind of basic in many ways, but I like that. The teddy bear that we get to play as can be customized. As you progress through the game, you can unlock new items so you can change the appearance of the bear. You can make them look like a pirate, an astronaut, and a ballerina for example.

If you like first-person shooters, but want something a bit on the different side, STUFFED could be just what you have been looking for. It is a fun premise for a game and one that I think is realized very well.

Pros:

• I like the idea of protecting a kids dreams
• The game has a kind of dream like vibe to it all
• The game is a bit more sinister than I was expecting
• The shooting mechanics are very solid and I like the selection of weapons too

Cons:

• Not sure if they plan to add more game modes
• No clue on when the game will be fully finished!
