Suicide Squad: Special Ops

Even though the film was not a success in itself, in fact, it was regarded as one of the worst comic book-based movies of its time, it still raised a lot of interest for the characters. And of course, it is worth noting that Suicide Squad as a comic has been around for many decades. First being introduced back in 1959 into the DC comics world. So it was quite unusual that there was not a single game based on this group with so much potential, and that's where Suicide Squad Special Ops comes into play.

But is this game as big as some of the other comic book-based video games we've seen over the years? Is it any good? Or is it as bad as the characters that conform to the Suicide Squad? Well, let's talk about it!

About the game

Suicide Squad: Special Ops goes beyond the simple companion app usual in this type of movie premiere. We are talking about a very well-designed video game, which honors the universe it adapts to and offers solid -frankly direct- and fun gameplay, which will invite us to embody some of the members of this particular squad of villains while we fight against the threat that looms over Midway City.

The story mode consists of an open-world environment, where you can go from one mission to another, at your own pace. Most of them are rather easy, but they can also be difficult if you want to get a higher score, or even unlock special missions.

Each of the three characters that we can control has its own characteristics, weapons, and qualities, being able to choose who we want to handle just before starting each of the successive rounds of confrontations that this production puts into play. Thus, instead of consisting of traditional phases, the title has opted to recreate incessant battles in different areas of the city in which the game takes place.

A super game?

It's hard to compare this game with any other video game based on comics or superheroes. It surely is not even close to something like the Spider-Man game released originally for the PS5. It isn't quite like any other game we've seen of this theme, and that could very well be a good thing. Especially when you consider that a lot of these games are very similar to each other.

Returning to the subject of controllable characters, we can make use of Deadshot's rifle and wrist pistols, opt for Harley Quinn's bat and revolver, or leave the stories behind and burn everything with Diablo. Each one has its virtues and flaws, although the latter villain seems to us the most balanced. In any case, we can always switch from one to the other at the end of each wave of enemies that rush at us, so it is best to alternate control of one or the other to make the games more entertaining.
