Sunrise City

Sunrise City is a solid lewd adventure game that has a fun premise and some very nice character designs. The game is described as a deck building game and also a lewd visual novel, but to be honest with you, do not expect anything all that deep in regards to the deck building stuff. I sunk a few hours into this, and I did have a fun time, but I will admit that it was one of those games where the closer I got to the end, the more interest I was losing. That is not to say it is a bad game, far from it, but it just needed something else, perhaps another gimmick to keep me excited.

My Kind Of University

The story of Sunrise City is not bad at all. We play as a young man who is a student at Onyx University, and this is a very popular and well thought of university, and we are in the battle program here. It is summer vacation, and we will need to put our battle skills to the test as there is something strange going on around town, and we are looking to get to the bottom of it. While the core story is solid, I think that it is the interesting and quirky characters that you interact with that really make you interested in what is going on here.

My Phone Is My Life

Our main character that we play as in Sunrise City has a phone and your phone pretty much is your life. It helps you keep track of your quests, your information and generally, if you need to know what you need to do next, it is in your phone. You can go to different locations, but most of the time, you just click around the screen until you click on the right area to move the story or that current quest along. There are also lewd visual novel elements as well, where you will be tasked with making decisions, some more important than others. I liked the way that the quest system made it easy for you to know what you had to do. There was never any time when I felt like I was lost or had no clue what I needed to do in order to progress.

Is There Deck Building In Your Deck Building Game?

It was the fact that Sunrise City was called a deck building game that initially sparked my interest. However, this is quite basic. The way that combat works is that you have so many action points you can use in a battle, and certain attacks/cards use different amount of action points, so there is strategy involved here. Now, unless I completely missed it, I never saw any actual deck building. I had the attacks that I had and would be given, and that was it. I never had the chance to build a deck or organize things in a way that you would expect with a game that calls itself a deck building game. What is here is not bad at all, I just am not sure deck building is a term I would have used to describe it.

Hmm, Something Familiar

For the visual style, Sunrise City has this bright animated look to it all. I would not say that it is an anime looking game like Dragon Ball Z or something like that. If pressed, I think I would have to say it has more of a Cartoon Network/Ben 10 kind of vibe about the visuals. The game has nicely detailed backgrounds, and the characters are done with these nice and large portraits that stand opposite each other during battle scenes. I unlocked some very nice lewd scenes as I progressed, but sometimes the characters' faces would throw me off a tad. Still, the presentation of the game is quite unique, and I like how they have tried to do their own thing here but still take inspiration from other stuff, too.

• The visual novel elements were well done
• This is a pretty solid lewd adventure to play through

Cons:

• I would not class this as a deck building game at all
• You do have to perhaps click around the screen a little bit too much

Sunrise City is an erotic visual adventure novel with dating simulation elements in which you have to help catch a gang of criminals.

Plot

The main character named Wave is studying at the fictional Onyx Academy. Vacations have come and he decides to work as a salesman in a small night store. Many of the town's residents come here, from cops to retirees. From their conversations, Wave learns that there is a gang in town, committing daring robberies. So the brave guy decides to investigate the case himself... while seducing all the pretty female witnesses.

Gameplay

Move around the city getting messages on your cell phone from your friends. Dangers lurk in dark corners - rabid dogs, mutant zombies, maniac robbers. When you meet them, a mini-game is activated and the step-by-step fighting game feature is launched. It is to defeat the opponents you must collect a deck of cards, which is responsible for combat skills and the amount of damage inflicted.

Pros:

• Colorful cartoon graphics.
• Sunrise City offers many places to explore
• Well-structured deck

Cons:

• Be prepared for the sudden appearance of a black screen - the game is not quite well optimized from a technical point of view
• Can you guess why both of the protagonist's hands are wrapped up to his elbows in bandages?
