When I heard about WW2: Bunker Simulator I thought that it was a really cool idea for a video game. I have played other games where you are in a bunker, but this one sounded like it was something truly unique. I have honestly lost count in regards to how many games set in World War II I have played, but none of them have been quite like this that is for sure.
Defending The Bunker At All Costs
The game has us playing as an American soldier in 1944, you and your team the 101st Airborne Division have managed to take one of the German bunkers and now you must defend it at all costs.
You need to defend the bunker, but you also need to keep in touch with command and make sure that the other soldiers in the bunker are looked after. I think that the whole premise of WW2: Bunker Simulator is actually really cool.
Shooting In The Bunker
The game is played from the first-person point of view and while at first glance this may seem like another WWII first-person shooter game it is far more than that. Yes, you will be shooting any Nazis that dare come into the bunker, but you will also be using stuff like anti-aircraft and tank guns too.
Scavenging For Supplies
Thankfully this German bunker was pretty stacked with supplies. This means in between enemy waves, you can get ammo, weapons, and so on. However, in WW2: Bunker Simulator this will not last and you will have to scavenge for supplies. Look around the area and check any dead bodies for supplies that are useful. If things get dire and you really need help, you can call in an air supply (not the band) drop and you do this via morse code which I thought was really cool.
Who Ordered The Eggs?
One part of the gameplay of WW2: Bunker Simulator that I am not sure if I like the sound of or not is the cooking…. Yes, that is right in a WWII shooter that is about protecting a bunker, you are required to cook. You need to cook and eat to keep your strength up, but you also need to provide food for other soldiers too. This I guess does add an extra element of danger to things as the time you spend with a can of soup could get you shot in the back!
Looking Very 360
The visuals are not exactly spectacular. They do the job fine, but I get some very PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era vibes from the way the game looks. I have to say that the game is not ugly by any means, but when you have played as much Battlefield V and Call Of Duty: WWIII as I have any other game that is set in this period does have a lot to live up to. I just feel the game has a somewhat lower-budget feel to it.
There are a ton of WWII shooters, but I do think that what we have here with WW2: Bunker Simulator is one of the more interesting ones to come out in quite some time. I really do like the idea of taking over a bunker and then defending it until the bitter end!
- The whole premise of the game is rather unique
- It will be very addictive trying to see how many waves of enemies you can survive
- I like that there is a decent selection of weapons
- The idea of scavenging for supplies appeals to me
- It is not exactly the best-looking game
- I am not sure if the cooking part of the game is going to be a distraction
