A Kiss for the Petals

A Kiss for the Petals is a rather long-running visual novel series and today I am looking at the game that showcases where this relationship actually started. A Kiss for the Petals Remembering How We Met is a truly charming and emotional story of young love and one that is impossible not to get all warm and fuzzy while you are reading it. While some visual novel games in this series do go for a hardcore approach. The one I am looking at today does not so it is a game that is ok for most folks if you ask me.

Where It All Began

As this is a visual novel style game I really do not want to go into too much detail about the overall story, However, I will say that A Kiss for the Petals Remembering How We Met has a lovely story and one that is not super long in length (I got through it all in one evening) but that is not something I am going to hold against it.

The basics of the story are that the two main characters, Miya and Risa look back on how they first met in school and how their relationship started. This is a premise that could have been kind of “skeevy” and just all about getting it on, but I am thankful that they did not go that way with the story.

Changes?

As I stated, this is a visual novel style game and while some of them will allow you to move the story in a particular direction with your choices. I will say that A Kiss for the Petals does not allow you to do this. You just watch the story unfold before your eyes and go along for the emotional ride. I can see why they did this as this is a prequel/side story so any changes that you make may have altered the overall canon of this franchise.

Hey Good Looking

I like how cute Risa and Miya are, but they are not over-sexualized like many female characters in visual novel games are. The artwork here is very well done and I like how smooth, clear and clean it all is. It is not that the game is what I would class as “remarkably” good looking. However, it fits the tone of the story and the characters perfectly about. My only complaint about the presentation is that the text I feel could have had a background instead of just being over the story as it can be sometimes hard to read.

I found that A Kiss for the Petals Remembering How We Met was far more of an emotional rollercoaster than I thought it would be. If you want a visual novel that is more than just sex, sex, sex and has some interesting characters that you actually will be interested in. Then I feel this is well worth checking out.

• It is “cuter” than just sexy

• No choices to be made may make some lose interest
• The text could be a bit easier to read
