Blanc

Blanc is one of the most beautiful looking games that I have ever seen. This game came out of nowhere for me. A friend sent me the video for the trailer and said it was a “me kind of game”. Well, she was totally right as this game grabbed me right away and its puzzle cooperative gameplay that it is offering along with the hand drawn art style and lovely story make it a game, I cannot wait to get my hands on. We probably have a game here that I will end up getting on both PC and Switch, especially if they make a physical version of it for the Switch!

Two Unlikely Friends, One Big Snowstorm!

The plot of Blanc is really going to tug at your heartstrings. The game stars a little wolf cub and a faun that after a bad snowstorm have found themselves separated from their respective families. They are a bit wary of each other at first, but they soon strike up a friendship and begin working together to try and find their families. It is very heartwarming stuff and reminds me of something like The Fox and the Hound, although I hope it does not have the dark turn that movie had!

In The Back Of A Notebook

The first thing that will catch your eye with Blanc is the way that it looks. I have played a ton of games that have a hand drawn kind of art style, but this is one of the most spectacular that I have ever seen. It looks like something that a person has jotted down in the back of their notebook at school. The little wolf cub and the faun have a ton of personality and are super cute. The whole game is done in black and white and the way that this world has been brought to life truly is something amazing. I am having a hard time right now thinking of another game that has impressed me with its visuals as much as this one here. Yes, we have seen black and white games and hand drawn games before, but this really is special.

Friends Till The End!

The way that Blanc works when it comes to the gameplay is that this is designed to be played as a cooperative experience. Both the wolf cub and the faun can do things that the other cannot. For example, the wolf cub is able to sneak around and get into smaller and tighter spaces. The faun on the other hand is quicker and able to jump up higher and reach places the wolf cub cannot. They have to work together, for example, the faun can bend down to allow the wolf cub to jump on their back and then get up to a higher area. The puzzle-based gameplay appears to me like it will be more fun than frustrating and that is something I am very excited about. You can play this game either online or via couch co-op.

Pros:

• This is one of the loveliest games that I have ever seen
• I am in awe of that hand drawn art
• The black and white design is amazing
• This is a game that is designed with co-op in mind

Cons:

• Will there be a reason to play it once you have played through it as both characters
• I hope there is not some kind of dark twist in the ending!
