Blightlands Blacksmith

Blightlands Blacksmith is a novel new crafting game that puts you in the hands of a magical blacksmith. The game has a heavy medieval feel to it and takes you through the process of sword smithing from a lump of metal you mine from the earth to magical rune.

Not only does the game allow you to craft the weapons and sell them, but you can also take them into battle as well. The game allows you to fight mobs with the weapons you create.

Graphics are Sub-Par

Although the game looks well thought out from a crafting perspective, the game has some fairly rough graphics. The 3d objects in the world are grainy and lack detail, and the backdrops are very simple. Since many hobby games have more rudimentary graphics, this shouldn’t be enough to stop you from playing the game.

Lots of Bugs

The game is also new and has a lot of bugs and navigation issues right now. It’s currently easy to click out of the game on accident and is very bare bones. New flaws come up every day. While this in itself is bad, it is balanced by the care and attention given by the developer. The developer updates the game almost daily, with new bug fixes and solutions. The constant attention of the developer has been very well received by players.

Relaxing Crafting Game

Despite its rough start, the game is mostly well received by players. While they acknowledge the bugs, the low price point and the developer’s activity have made the game enjoyable to play. If you stumble across a bug, most of the time simply waiting until tomorrow will bring about a fix. The developer is very good at promptly fixing any issues and is very responsive to the community.

Gameplay

Despite the errors, the game is a very fun crafting game, similar to Blacksmith, but with a first-person perspective and a more serious tone. The game allows you to select your metal, heat it, bang it out on the anvil, and apply magic to them.

While simple at its core, the relaxing gameplay allows you to truly be a blacksmith in a medieval setting. Besides the actual crafting and combat, the game also allows you to move around the business section of an army camp, trading with people and tracking your progress on supplying the military.

This game is likely to rise higher in the ranks as more bugs become fixed. While right now it is in a very rough state, the developer is actively fixing it as time goes on. The price point for the game is low, and is likely meant more to support the developer while he fixes it then as a payment for the game.
