Disney's duck has a 'fowl temper, but gorgeous graphics and solid game play make his newest action/adventure cart worth checking out.
Don't Quack Up
Uncle Scrooge is in deep trouble. After messing with an enchanted amulet, he's blown up like a balloon. Donald must solve the mystery and deflate his unk.
Each of the four areas of the game (the Jungle, the Inlet, the Volcano, and the Mountain) is fraught with perils. There are two scenes in each round, and Donald has to make his way through using hop-n-bop-style game play. Donald's easy to control, whether he's jumping, running, swimming, or slip-slidin' across the ice.
During each round, Donald can capture gems and other treasure to boost his points. He also snacks on ice cream and turkeys (hey, Donald's no cannibal). Then, at the end of each round, Donald snags a special charm that'll help him solve the mystery.
The game's graphics capture that ol' Disney magic. Donald's personality is quite evident, whether he's impatiently tapping his webbed toe or racing across the screen during a mad attack. Although the enemies could have been more imaginative, the game's backgrounds are creative and well done. The music's not top-ten fare, but it doesn't detract from the fun.
Fowl Fun
Intermediate and advanced gamers will find the game an easy waddle, but it's still a lot of fun. Donald's a charmer, and his latest adventure is just ducky.
ProTips:
- When you reach what appears to be a dead end in the Volcano, simply push Up to enter the door.
- Grab Chiles to send Donald into a Super Attack mode.
- Watch out! Donald's an Instant frozen duck dinner if he falls into the water during the Mountain round.

A Disney game is invariably a good addition to any game system. And if you're a Donald Duck fan, you'll be doubly happy with Deep Duck Trouble.
As the easily flustered and frustrated fowl, it's your job to help your wealthy uncle, Scrooge McDuck. On one of his explorations, Scrooge stole a pendant from a statue on an uninhabitable island, and he's now blown up to grand proportions. The only way to reverse the spell is for Donald and his nephews - Huey, Dewey, and Louie - to return the pendant.
Graphics are the highlight of Deep Duck Trouble, although the game play is solid, too. You're going to be hard-pressed to find a better all-round adventure for Game Gear.

Uncle Scrooge brought home a mysterious pendant he found on an uninhabited island while on his latest treasure hunt. That's when something unusual happened to Uncle Scrooge.
Now the only thing that will cure him is to return the magical pendant to its rightful place on the island. That job falls on Donald's shoulders, but his adventure is not an easy one. Donald must make his way through several different, dangerous climate locations on the island. Collect different objects in each area to enter the shrine and complete his adventure.
This version of Donald Duck and his wacky antics comes off rather well. After Uncle Scrooge brought home a mysterious pendant, something strange happened to him and Donald must help him. Very large levels with nifty icons to find really spice up the game. There's lots of cool Bosses and the game is just plain fun.
Scrooge McDuck attributes r his great wealth to his Lucky Dime, so he gives Huey, Dewey, and Louie their own Lucky Dimes. But sinister Magica De Spell has her evil eyes on some ten-penny luck, too, so she snatches all the Dimes--and she kidnaps the boys for good measure. It's Donald Duck to the rescue!
A Duck Out of Water
Donald Duck is a cute-looking hop and bop adventure that's much tougher than you might imagine. Whatever you do, don't write off this cart as a "kiddie" game because of the ducky Disney characters.
Right off the bat, the graphics will catch your eye. All the main characters, Donald, Uncle Scrooge, Magica, and the Boys, look like they just stepped out of the cartoon. The animation's sharp, too. Donald's got some great moves and cartoon classic expressions. Your quest covers seven lengthy rounds around the world, and you pick every round you play. Magica's holding the Boys in Canada, North America, and South America, but the Dimes are hidden on a Pacific island, in Egypt, and in Antarctica. Your final fight occurs in Magica's Castle in Central Europe.
Hey, Donald, Duck!
Donald's foes are literally too numerous to list. It's the most massive menagerie ever packed into an SMS cart. The goony gang includes Mushrooms, Spiders, Bees, Stone Jugs, Tiki Gods, Ant Lions, Piranhas, Seals, Sawfish, Flying Forks, Mummy Ducks, and Skeletons. Bosses include a Bear and his bee, a rampaging Lion, and two Aztec statues come to life. Magica also sicks her three pet crows on you, too!
You'll run into tough sometimes inspired tricks and traps. For example, inside the Antarctic ice cavern, you stand on a mound of ice cubes and try to avoid dripping lava until it melts a path through the cubes. In the Egyptian pyramid you must traverse a treacherous sandy gauntlet of Ant Lion nests as scorpions fall from the ceiling. Every area is packed with duck-roasting dangers!
However, Donald's no sitting duck. His main fighting technique is to jump on his foes with his big webbed feet. He can also pick up a mallet to swing and some frisbees to fling, but precise jumping and, of course, timely ducking are the main moves Donald must master.
Why a Duck?
Donald Duck should wing its way into the top flock of Master System games. You'll spend days in this web-footed wonderland, but remember, Donald Duck is a tough old bird. Don't quack-up!
ProTips:
- When Skeletons toss their bones, make Donald duck (what else?).
- In South American Mountains, jump on the clubs the little pigs toss. Sometimes you get power-ups.
- Frisbees are best against the Tiki Gods.
- Crush the Ice Crow's ice cube and when he drops down to build another one, jump him!
- Don't bother to snatch more than one weapon icon at a time.
- Five Stars mean instant temporary invincibility. Choose the time wisely.
- If you're in a hurry in the Canadian Forest, skip across the tree branches. There are few problems up there.
