Pick your Duckling

Before you embark on the epic journey that is Duck Life Adventure, you'll first have to create your very own duck avatar. The game offers a surprisingly diverse set of options to choose from, allowing players immense freedom when it comes to customizing their ducklings.

Customization has always been a huge part of Duck Life's appeal, and it's better than ever in this entry. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this is the feature that helps distinguish this franchise a bit more from its Pokemon Red roots. However, the rest of the game might be a bit more familiar for players familiar with the series' Flash roots.

Race, Train, Explore

The usual gameplay loop of previous Duck Life titles returns, with a twist. Not only will players have to train their ducks, but they'll also have to prepare them for races and battles if they hope to become the Duck Champion.

There are 8 skills that you can train your duck in. Each of these skills is leveled up via a mini-game. For many players, these training games will be, without a doubt, the star of the show: not only do they break the monotony of walking around the game's massive map, but they also provide hours of fun as you try to beat your high scores.

Battles play similarly to what one would expect from games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, that is to say, as basic as basic RPGs go. Races, on the other hand, will put your skills to the test, serving as the perfect meter to see if your training is paying off.

Flashing Visuals

Long-time internet lurkers might fall in love immediately with Duck Life Adventure's visuals. Not only do they remind us of classic flash games like Alien Hominid and other Newgrounds creations, but they are still as fresh as they were in their heyday.

Perhaps the only thing that might bore some of the younger players out there, is that the game requires a somewhat excessive amount of grinding to get some of the best gear available. As long as you don't mind some repetitiveness here and there, Duck Life Adventure is one seriously enjoyable game.
