Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn

Emersive experiences are one of the biggest reasons we enjoy playing games so much. Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn wows players by doing just that. The game has an enormous amount of content, including a rich 20 hour long “Official Mode” as well as more open ended options. This is one of those few, refreshing games where you can play as long as you want and still find new things to do.

So-So Graphics

The graphics in this game are a step down form other Gundam games of the past, but they’re not terrible. The explosions are well done and beautiful to look at, but the backdrops are repetitive to the point of being dull. There’s only so many boring metal walls and starry back drops you can look at before craving something different. This is only a minor flaw however, and doesn’t detract from the game very much.

Watch enemies explode

In keeping with other Dynasty Warriors games such as its predecessor, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. Exploding enemies is a trademark of this particular franchise, and it’s very satisfying to watch enemies come apart as you fight them. The game is very fast paced, and rewards an aggressive play style. One small problem that comes up is if you are too fast, you will be stuck listening to dialogue from the opponent until the dialogue is complete. It’s a little underwhelming to listen to trash talk from an enemy that is now nothing more than debris.

Ultimate Mode brings all your favorites together

Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn is a combination of a number of different popular Gundam series combined. Although the Official Mode is the star of the game, many fans will probably enjoy Ultimate Mode as much or more. This allows you to customize your own suits, bring favorite characters into other worlds, and otherwise mix and match to your hearts content. If you’ve ever wondered how the stars of different Gundam series would do against each other, this is your chance to create the ultimate competitions.

Be Prepared for Grinding

The game features an RPG style leveling system where you must level up your suits in order to be able to succeed in the next level. There’s some grinding that needs to happen. The hack n’ slash style fighting does make it relatively easy to get through, but at the risk of getting repetitive.

If you’re a big fan of the genre this grinding will be a breeze, but if you’re not a serious gundam fan you may find the grinding gets dull before its time. This game has a lot to offer. If you’ve ever played other Gundam games such as Mobile Suit Gundam and enjoyed them, you’ll probably enjoy this game. While it does have a few flaws, the most problematic being the dialogue delays, its overall a fun game to play.
