Furnish Master

If you had told 15 year old me that one day I would get excited about Furnish Master and other design type sim games I would have never believed you in a million years. However, after spending a considerable amount of time with the demo and pretty much doing everything that I possibly could in that, this is one of those hidden gem games of the year for me that I can see hooking pretty much all of those who end up giving it a try.

A Mogul Is A Mogul

The whole point of the game is to furnish various properties as stylishly as possible so you can then sell them and make a fat stack of cash! Furnish Master is not joking with its title as that is what you are. You need to decide what kind of furniture to get for a specific place and how to arrange it. The better you do, the more money you make, however, it takes money to make money so there is going to be a bit of a balancing act to make sure that you are getting the most bang for your buck with how you lay out your properties.

The Client Is Always Right

One of the things that I was most surprised about with Furnish Master was that there is a story mode in the full version of the game! This has us playing as someone that has a real eye for flair and style and we are going to try and use that to make as much money as we can. We get to take on various jobs be it sorting some guy’s small apartment out one week and then bringing an arcade to life the next. From what I have seen so far there is a lot of variety to the jobs that you get and the story mode is going to throw a few curveballs your way to keep you on your toes.

A Feng Shui Master

There are different elements at play in Furnish Master if you are playing the game right. You will have to decide what bits of furniture are right for the job and you usually have a budget to work with here. You then get to flex those creative Feng Shui muscles as you make sure that the furniture you bought is going to not just fit in the property, but also look good as well. You can buy property in the game as you progress, which you can then stylize and then flip for a massive profit so you can start all over again. For those who like this kind of thing, you do not need me to tell you how addictive this is!

Basic, But Cool

I am not going to lie and say that Furnish Master is in with any kind of chance of winning the best looking game of the year award! However, I will say that this game has a very sleek and stylish look to it that I like. It kind of reminds me of something like The Sims (the newer ones) and perhaps even a bit of Sim City when you see the whole town from afar. Everything looks like it is supposed to look like and at the end of the day in a game like this, that is all you can ask for. Yet, I would completely understand if someone told me that they liked the game, but felt like it was lacking a bit of personality.

Without a doubt, Furnish Master is the kind of game that is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. However, I will say that this is the kind of game that I just love. I feel that for those who get invested in things like the various simulator games like Powerwash Simulator for example will get into this. My wife who is not really a gamer loves designing houses in The Sims and Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer and she has already said that this is a game we need to get the full version of!

Pros:

  • If you like designing homes, rooms, and business properties you will love this
  • You have a lot of control, but the UI and game in general are easy to figure out
  • The story mode is awesome and way more challenging than you would think
  • I can see this being something that casual gamers will get hooked on

Cons:

  • The game may be a bit on the boring side as far as the presentation goes
  • It would be awesome if they put this out on the Nintendo Switch!
