Hades 2

In the first sequel to ever be produced by Super Giant Games, Hades 2 is a powerful new game focusing on the story of Melionë. Melionë has been charged with the task of destroying Chronos, the titan of time. This is a story steeped in history and Greek lore, so you may want to brush up on it before picking up this title.

At this time, Hades 2 does not have a firm release date. It was announced at the 2022 Game Awards to the shock of many, since Super Giant Games has historically never released a sequel. Here’s what we do know about this game, and what we can expect from Hades 2.

Stunningly Beautiful Graphics

The graphics flaunted in the game trailer are gorgeous. The color scheme, linework, and animation are all incredibly unique and beautiful. The sheer beauty of the artwork is something we haven’t seen since LUMIONE. The game is also fully voiced, with voice actors that seem to be invested in the characters. When you put the voice acting, sound, and art together, Hades 2 could be a masterpiece with those alone.

New enemies, attack types, and powers

The gameplay is similar to the original Hades game, but with a few updates to keep things interesting. The trailer clearly shows new enemies for you to fight in the game, and you are granted new attack types and powers. We will also meet new gods from Olympus in this game, including Moros, the god of doom, and Nemessis, the god of retribution.

It’s not clear yet what role these deitys play in the story yet, and whether they will help you. In Greek lore, Moros had the ability to let you sneak preview your own death, so it would be interesting if this ability was granted to you. It’s not yet known at this time if that will be true.

Single Player Game

One thing we do know for certain about Hades 2 is that it will not be a multiplayer game. Super Giant Games has confirmed this. Hades was also a single player game, so it makes sense that Hades 2 follows in its footsteps. Although you won’t be playing this game with any of your buddies, the game does offer help from gods along the way, so you will have NPC boosts here and there to help you get through the game.

This game is likely to be one of the most exciting options for 2023. Hades was one of the best games of 2018 for a reason, and a worthy game to break Super Giant Game’s no sequel tradition. The attention to Greek lore, stunning artwork, and exciting gameplay all make this new game very exciting.
