But as the number of victims piles up, the scales of justice hang in the balance, and it's up to you to determine if defending the law or enacting revenge is the right course of action.

One thing that you'll immediately notice about Lost Judgment is that it deals with some serious issues right out of the gate. It's great to see that the game manages to handle these themes with a serious and responsible tone, making the game feel like a much more mature title than its cousins like Yakuza 0.

Kicking for Justice

Combat in Lost Judgment is intense and rewarding, allowing you to master Yagami's three unique, combo-heavy martial arts styles to overcome any situation, from group ambushes to single-target takedowns.

Additionally, you can expand your arsenal with street signs, bicycles, and other objects to pack an even bigger punch. Compared to Yakuza 4, Lost Judgment's combat system is more fluid and refined, making it an enjoyable experience.

In general, combat mechanics feel like a step up from Judgment. QTEs are still alive and well here, accompanied by the over-the-top visuals that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio loves so dearly. The result is a game that can vary wildly in its tone – but always achieves its goal to keep the players entertained.

Living the Life

Of course, this wouldn't be a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios game without an absurd amount of mini-games and side diversions to keep you entertained. Though there's no karaoke this time around – which is a travesty for the series – players can expect to find all sorts of pastimes to engage in as they explore the streets of Tokyo and Yokohama.

With places like the iconic Kamurocho and Ichijo to explore, there's no shortage of things to discover in this game. Together with the compelling narrative, Lost Judgment feels like one of the best titles in this legendary series. Expect to sink a lot of gameplay hours in this one – you're going to need them.
