NBA Street Homecourt is an arcade-style basketball game packed with over-the-top dunks, smooth dribbling, and plenty of all-star athletes. As the fourth game in the NBA Street franchise, Homecourt amps up the action, providing excessively colorful and hard-hitting gameplay.
Similar in style to games like NBA Jam and NFL Blitz, Homecourt takes the core experience of its chosen sport (in this case, basketball), and takes it to the extreme. You'll springboard off of teammates for double-dunks, dribble around your opponents with finesse and style, and battle against some of the biggest names in the industry. If you're a fan of basketball and casual sports fun, NBA Street Homecourt will blow you away.
Main Game Features
- Easy-to-learn controls
- Fun and stylish basketball action
- Single-player and multiplayer modes
NBA Street Homecourt offers a variety of gameplay modes for you to enjoy, each one full of exciting basketball gameplay.
The biggest and most fleshed-out game mode is Homecourt Challenge, the game's core single-player experience. In Homecourt Challenge, you'll start by customizing your own character and choosing your hometown. From here, you'll recruit a few teammates and start taking on other teams at their selected court. As you travel from city to city, dominating the competition, you and your team will grow in power. In addition to the main single-player experience, NBA Street Homecourt also offers four other game modes. You can play a quick exhibition match in Pick Up Game mode, get super-stylish in the dunk-only Gamebreaker Battle, show off your smooth moves in Trick Battle, or play a no-frills game in Back to Basics mode. The game also includes online multiplayer, letting you test your skills against friends and online opponents from around the world.
As a sequel in the NBA Street series, NBA Street Homecourt enhances the fantasy-style sports concept, making the special dunks even more extravagant and the trick-dribbling far more impressive. In every mode, players face off in 3v3 matches of basketball, playing to a set limit of points. There's a big emphasis on using tricks as you dribble, which increase your “Gamebreaker” meter at the top of the screen. As you fill up the Gamebreaker meter, your shots will be worth more points, giving you an edge over the competition. Once the meter is completely full, you'll be able to pull off an enormously flashy dunk, sometimes scoring twice or three times in a row. When playing the single-player story, you'll only be able to play as your custom character, but other modes allow you to play as real-world NBA athletes. You can get your game on with all-star names like Lebron James, Shaq, Kobe Bryant, and many more.
NBA Street Homecourt is a great game for both non-sports fans and basketball lovers alike. By fusing the stylish and fierce atmosphere of street basketball with a great roster of real athletes, this casual sports game offers a great balance between fantasy and reality. Although most of the game modes feel similar and occasionally repetitive, the core gameplay never becomes boring, resulting in continuously fun and exciting basketball action.
When compared to the rest of the NBA Street franchise, Homecourt has far more refined gameplay, but loses points with its slightly lackluster options. Either way, it's tons of fun to play and is a treat for any fan of explosive sports action.
